Can't stop lying

hi all, I'm new here, but feel I need to do something before I lose everything. I am a compulsive liar and in the past have lied about some pretty horrendous things which nearly cost me my marriage and home. I am no longer lying about BIG things, however I am still lying to cover my ass to my wife. Eg- I just lied about wether I had washed my hand as I couldn't remember.  She called me out and I lied.  How do I stop. This is terribly destructive to her. I would like to say I have been seeing a psychologist for some time and my anxiety levels have decreased, but still these white lies continue

Once you tell the lie try to immediately say you lied and then tell the truth. She knows it's an issue you are dealing with and she will appreciate the effort you are putting in.

Before you know it your first instinct will be to tell he truth. It takes time. This habbit took years to perfect and it will take time to undue. Be patient with yourself.

I'm dealing with the same thing except with my friends. I definitely don't want to lose them or even worse hurt them in any way shape or form. They know of my problem but I still need to put in the effort to changing.
