Hi I finally found away to get them under control, first you journal them so you can see if they are the same ones, at the same time about the same people. Try to see a hypnotherapist I prefer woman. I found that after three treatments she had me either asleep thinking of something else or awake when those would happen so I can control them. I hope you can find that as help always good to talk to good friends you trust. preferably who have PTSD a and know what flashbacks are. Hugs casey
What helps me with flashbacks is to remember that it's not in the present, that was then, this is now, and I'm actually safe. To help myself get grounded in the present again, I try to use my senses, and do things like wiggle my toes, or feel the surface under me, or look at something, really look at it, or smell a flower or soap or something. One person said they tried squeezing an ice cube, but I haven't tried that yet. Senses and focusing on the present helps with a current flashback, but I also go to counseling to work through all the issues. Another friend told me EMDR was really helping her with her past traumas, but I haven't done that myself. Journaling seems to help too, once I'm back in the present and not in the grips of the flashback. During the flashback I can't do much of anything but try to get back to the present.
