Yea for cast iron. Inherited a full 7 piece set that was already well seasoned. S in law was almost banned by m in law when she put m in laws still hot skillet into soapy dishwater that had cooled. (She thought it would warm the water.)Forget losing the seasoning, the pan split in two.
I have a cast iron skillet that I use to cook steaks and other meat but that's about it because I also have a glass top stove. My mom makes cornbread in it.
I think it would be great if everyone posted more about cast iron skillets. I would love to know more stuff to make in the oven.
Also I see them for sale alot at flea markets and antique shops. You can still use those as long as you season them right? A post about how to season or restore old skillets would be nice.
Seasoning cast iron is time consuming. This site gives step by step for seasoning a new one, fixing one with rust, and dealing with anything that gets stuck on. Just go to: https://www.wikihow.life/Season-a-Cast-Iron-Skillet
