Oh sorry about your friend. My dad used to make the best turtle soup but now I just have to remember the taste because I will never have it again because he died almost 13 yrs ago. Funny the ways we remember people.
Wolf. I have travelled a lot, and always go with what we don't serve here. Used to have two resources for venison, but lost contact with both. Yes for backstrap. A cup of coffee added to venison as stew is great. Hugs.
Coffee really? I never heard that. I plan to get a deep freeze so my uncle can get a whole deer for me. He will skin and gut it (I'm not good at that part) and I will cut it up.
I grew up not really going to the grocery. We killed, raised, and grew what we ate because we were dirt poor. I didn't learn how to cook or grocery shop until I was in my early 20s. I worked almost 5 years in a meat shop in a grocery store.
Anyway we always marinated our venison in salt water with Merlot wine for 3 days before use.
On beef I marinate about 20 mins in Coke or ginger ale before cooking.
I've heard of people using root beer for pork but idk if I like the sound of that.
