Gleevec for Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)

Tell us about your personal experience with Gleevec as a treatment: Has it worked? Have you had any issues? Any recommendations or tips?

I have been on Gleevec since June 06, it has only worked on controlling my blood counts. Evidentally the chromosome is resistent to the drug and my doc will be switching me to Sprycel this week when I go for my appointment.

The side effects I had to deal with on Gleevec were swelling in the eyes, face, legs, much weight gain, fatigue, and nausea. I am on an anti nausea medicine to help out with that. I drink a lot of coffee and take naps to deal with my fatigue. I can say that my fatigue is gotten to be less and less the longer I have been on the drug.
