We are in the midst of moving to another church...which is almost like a divorce. While we see so many problems, we still have church family that may not understand why we are leaving. We have been there 27 years, so it really is a bit like family....or supposed to be like family. I feel marginalized. People stare or smile politely, but don't really have anything to say....and I'm not using a cane or other obvious device. I just don't think folks know what to do or say. All this has made the Christmas season a bit of a struggle this year. While I realize that it is not about deocrating and feasting, the traditions are a good thing to keep some balance and normalcy in life. Just looks like that could be a bit more difficult this year.

It can be hard to know how to cope with people who don't know what to say etc. It would be hard after 27 years for sure.
I am going to post a poem I wrote early in my journey. Maybe parts of it will help you too. Feel free to give it to friends if you want to or use parts of it too, maybe others don't know how to approach/what to say too.
It may not help you now at your Church you are leaving but maybe with other people/new church too.
