The ladies that I was friends with at church were a huge support as I gradually told them of my dx with lots of hugs & prayers as I cried heaps.
On the day of dx I went back to the group that we had done Pastoral care all term & shared so much. When I was driving to there I had rung my hubby & couple of close friemds. I started crying & then it started raining & I felt like God was crying with me.
I got to the colledge & parked & the rain stopped! I went into the class & we were all sharing what we had learnt, they could see that I was upset & waited a while before asking me if I wanted to share what had happened. When I did I couldn't stop crying friends came over & hugged me & afterwards I had lots of hugs etc. It was a good place to be after getting that sort of news.
We were all going out for lunch & my good friend bundled me in her car & took me (I was going to go home). The group were very good and kept me enclosed in their care. When I went to drive home after going back to get car, another friend followed me most of the way home to make sure I was ok. I felt like I had been enclosed in Gods care, even phoned to check I got home ok.
I was certainly went through a lot of emotions in the time after that but was felt cared for by the God with the friends that really helped me, Christians passages emailed to me & lots of hugs, so I felt enveloped in care.
MS has led me to press into God's Word. And although my life has more physical limits and is harder than ever, I finally truly get what it means to say :"The joy of the Lord is my strength" an "Jesus is my Rock". My marriage is better than ever, despite sexual difficulties. God has blessed me so. He has enabled me to bless friends and family with the Good news, seen family members come to him, and you DS'ers are a blessing too.
I love Isaiah 40:28-31
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
I look forward to walking and running!
I will try & post some further of my journey & issues with family & friends not understanding & other illness as well that made life very hard.
Just an interest point I know you are in USA but here we have some free to air television programmes -4 & all others are pay by the month cable. Usually any christian shows are on a pay by the month channell & over the last 2 weeks there has been a promotion for a 10 part series on "The Bible". It is gettting a lot of publicity so hopefully lots of interest & talk.
I am recording it to watch as it is still on when we go to bed.
