Many years ago God came to a lonely man that lived in a cabin by the woods.
He asked the man to go outside and to push the very big rock that set outside his door by the well.
The man was of course very loyal to God and agreed to do as God had asked of him.
Many years had passed and the lonely man pushed and pushed as God had asked him to but not at all had the rock budged, not even an inch. He grew weary with each passing day as the sweat fell up off his brow. More time passed and how his hands bled. But still he continued to push the rock with all his might as God had instructed him to do.
One day while pushing the rock, Satan appeared in front of the man. He asked him "Why do you foolishly continue to try to push and move this rock?' The man replied "God has instructed me to do so." Satan laughed in reply and told the man that God had made not only a fool out of him but also a laughing stock. The man then turned away and fell upon his knees and while looking up asked, God why have you done this to me? Why would you ask such a foolish task of me? You knew I could not move this rock!
Satan quickly fled as God appeared to the man and said:
Son I never asked you to move the rock, only to push it. I knew you could not move the stone. But being loyal as you are you continually year after year proceeded. Son take a look at yourself. You are tanned as leather, hands so strong, muscles wide with girth. Legs so built to take you anywhere you would wish to go. This feet I asked of you wasn't to make you weak or as a fool, but strong to stand your ground.
We need to remember that through every storm and through every bit of pain, God has a purpose for us. If he brings us to it, he will bring us through it.
