Recovery Resources for You
deleted_user
Hi guys,
Last Sunday afternoon, I was looking for a group here on DS when I stumbled upon this group. Just shows you what luck, serendipity, and coincidence can do for you. I went ahead and joined the group, and will be popping in from time to time to see what's going on. For today, however, I wanted to share some resources with you that might be of help in your recovery process. I have left these referrals on a couple of other sexual addiction sights, so if you've seen them at one of these sights, I apologize for repeating myself, but I did want to make sure everyone here knew what was out there.
The first thing I wanted to share with you was a website that is maintained by Dr. Patrick J. Carnes (the guy who wrote "Out of the Shadows: Understanding Sexual Addiction") called simply "Sex Help". The web address for this site is: www.sexhelp.com/. On this website you will find information on a professional journal that is now available on sexual addiction (Sex Addiction and Compulsivity: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention; www.tandf.co.uk/journals/alphalist.asp). Also, there is now a foundation that is supporting research into addictions (American Foundation for Addiction Research; www.addiction research.com).
On another part of the website you will find a recommended reading list, a listing of treatment centers, a list of Certified Sex Addiction Therapists, and a link to various Twelve Step groups, including CHRISTIAN TWLEVE STEP GROUPS FOR SEXUAL ADDICTION. I thought this might interest some of you.
Finally on this website you will find a listing a workshops and seminars where Dr. Carnes will be speaking, in case you'd like to have a chance to hear him, and a listing of workshops where he has already spoken. These prior speaking engagements were either audio or video recorded, and you can get a copy of Pat's talk for your own use, if you'd like.
The next resource I wanted to share with you is the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (S.A.S.H.). The web address for this group is: www.sash.net/. On this website, you will find more treatment centers listed, along with additional psychotherapists and books on sexual addiction and codependency.
The next resource is the Sexual Recovery Institute. They have two web addresses:
www.sexualrecovery.com/
www.sexualrecovery.com/reso...#for partner
One address has information for the addict, the other has information for the addict's partner and family. These websites have additional reading lists and names of therapists.
And finally, if you would like to order one or more of the books on one or more of the suggested reading lists, you can order them from Hazelden. This place started out as a treatment center for alcoholism in Minnesota, and has grown considerably over the years. Hazelden's publishing arm now carries thousands of books on every imaginable recovery subject. Their web address is: www.recoverysuperstore.com.
Well, that's all I've got for now, so I'll close. I hope something here is of some help to you. If you have any questions, or if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know. I'll be happy to help in any way I can. Thanks for your time and attention. Have yourself a great day!

www.xxxchurch.com A Christian based website that has free accountability software for macs and Windows, and a forum, and at times someone to talk to live about issues.
smartrecovery.org A website that uses a more cognitive approach to recovery, based off of REBT/CBT. There is a chat room for those in recovery (I would just caution you, the website is for all types of addiction, so therefore, talk about sex addiction only if you are comfortable), and there is a private forum for those who specifically struggle with SMBs (Sexual Maladaptive Behaviors).
Again, thanks, Charlio
mind:
1. Radical Amputation
2. Don't even look
3. Never go near
4. FLEE
5. Radical Accountability
6. Radical appropriation of God's grace and God's word.
7. Always live in a glass house with all the doors and windows wide open!
I took the course and while I remain vigilant at all times, I have been successful thus far.
Peace,
Wolf
