For anyone that might be reading this, I'm posting this here as a way to save it.
It's a personal letter, but feel free to read it.:

"Letter to Chris":

Hi Chris,
There are several things you said while you were here, and they are just weighing on my heart. I know you don’t know me, and you may not know about the illness I have dealt with for the past 9 years. I have no idea what Mike has or has not told you, but I want to tell you my story.
I used to run a preschool/daycare out of my home, but in 2012 my health faded fast, and I had to shut that down. Initially, the plan was to get healthy, and then resume working. But it took a while to figure out what was wrong. I saw numerous doctors, had many tests, and had lots of blood work done.
I finally did get a diagnosis of Adrenal Fatigue, but once your adrenal glands become sick, it is very difficult to get them well, especially if you are in stage 4. The adrenal glands affect multiple systems in the body, and when they don’t work correctly, it can cause many other secondary illnesses, and if it goes on long enough it can cause your organs to shut down. I could list all that went wrong, but that isn’t really important. Just know that I was so sick at one point, that I was only able to get out of bed to use the bathroom. Mike even had to bring me my food, which at the time consisted of protein shakes/pureed fruit smoothies. It was basically all I could get down, and even that was a struggle.
I already had a relationship with God when I got sick, because I grew up in the church. From the time I was born, we never missed a Sunday. I also went to vacation Bible school in the summers, as well as week-long Bible camps. From a very young age Wednesday nights were set aside for Christian based programs. And from 7th grade to graduation I attended a Christian School. So I had a lot of exposure to God, the Bible, and religious teaching.
So when I became very sick, I naturally turned to God for the answer. At first I prayed for healing, and when it didn’t come, I thought I just needed to be more patient. I figured maybe I needed to learn more, or maybe it just wasn’t God’s perfect timing yet. But I was desperate. My illness was destroying my family. I can’t tell you how hard it was to hear my daughter crying in her room and saying that she basically didn’t have a mom anymore. I know it also weighed on Mike. I wasn’t helping out financially, nor was I doing any cleaning, or anything else a wife would normally do to help out with the house, or with my daughter. All the driving, laundry, cooking, cleaning, and yard work etc. fell on his shoulders.
I knew God had the answer, and He knew exactly what I needed to make my body well. So I prayed something to the effect of, “God you know what the problem is, and you know how to heal it. Help me find the answer.”
I figured God would direct me to the right doctor, the right medication, or the right treatment. But instead Mike’s brother contacted him and told him to have me watch two specific ministers on T.V.
So I did. One taught a lot about God’s grace, in a way that I had never heard it before. He walked me through the Scriptures that helped me understand I had complete forgiveness for all of my sins: past, present, and future. Yes, I had heard about forgiveness before, but this was very different. I had always believed that Jesus died for all of my sins; but I was under the impression that unless I confessed every wrong thought, every wrong action, and every sin of either commission or omission I was destined for Hell. This minister showed me Scriptures that helped me understand that I have been reconciled to God because of Jesus sacrifice, and I now have right standing with Him. (A few of those passages would be: Colossians 1:21-22; 1 Corinthians 5:17-21; and Romans 8:1). There is a lot more to it than this, but my point is that this minister helped me to have peace and to heal emotionally. That was the first step.

The other minister my brother-n-law suggested taught me multiple other things that have been beneficial to me on my health journey. I can’t begin to tell you everything in this message, but let me show you some Scriptures that have helped me:
As I’m sure you know; Matthew, Mark, and Luke are referred to as the synoptic Gospels, so they often tell the same stories in each of them. Here is a story I want to focus on that is mentioned in all of them:
Mark 1:29-34 (NLT)

29 After Jesus left the synagogue with James and John, they went to Simon and Andrew’s home. 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. They told Jesus about her right away. 31 So he went to her bedside, took her by the hand, and helped her sit up. Then the fever left her, and she prepared a meal for them.32 That evening after sunset, many sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. 33 The whole town gathered at the door to watch. 34 So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons. But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak.


Luke 4:38-41 (NLT)

"After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon's home, where he found simon's mother-in-law sick with a high fever. 'Please heal her,' everyone begged. (39) Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them. (40) As the suns went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed everyone. (41) Many were possessed by demons; and the demons came out at his command, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But because they knew he was the Messiah, he rebuked them and refused to let them speak."


The same account in Matthew:

Matthew 8:14-17 (NLT)

When Jesus arrived at Peter's house, Peter's mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. (15) But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him. (16) That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick. (17) This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, 'He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases."

So, they all mention that Peter’s mother-in-law was healed of a fever, and then other sick people were brought to Jesus. Mark says people were sick with “various diseases”, Luke says “no matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed everyone” and Matthew says (referring to Jesus healing their sick bodies) “This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, 'He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases."




What passage is Matthew referencing from Isaiah here?


Isaiah 53:4 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

If you look Isaiah 53:4 up in a Hebrew Lexicon, it shows you that the words "griefs" and "sorrows" are literally translated as "sicknesses" and "pain." Here is a link to a Lexicon so you can see it for yourself if you would like:

So, Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would bear our sicknesses and pain in Isaiah 53:4, and the next verse (Isaiah 53:5) says that by His stripes we are healed. This was the prophecy Matthew was referring to in Matthew 8:17, and he said Jesus healing the sick was a fulfillment of the prophecy. (Even though He hadn’t been to the cross yet). In other words, Jesus’ payment reversed the curse of sickness and condemnation which were both a consequence of sin. Galatians 3:13 tells us that, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”
Sickness was a curse. That is made clear in the book of Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy 28:15-68 lists all the curses the Israelite people would endure if they were disobedient. It lists several sicknesses, but verses 60-61 make it clear that the curse included every sickness:
60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.” (Deuteronomy 28:60-61)
Anyway, my point is that Galatians 3:13 tells us Jesus was made a curse for us, and we have been redeemed from all the curses of the law, which Deuteronomy 28 says includes sickness. And the next verse in Galatians (verse 3:14) says, “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
There are 7 different blessings that are listed in Genesis12:1-3; Genesis 22:17-18 that were given to Abraham:
(1) I will make you a great nation (2) I will bless you [I believe this includes all of the blessings listed in Deuteronomy 28:1-13, God’s blessings on Isreal] (3) I will make your name great (4) You will be a blessing (5) I will bless those who bless you (6) In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (7) That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed.
So, I understand Galatians 3:13-14 to be saying that Jesus took the curses for us, and in their place we have the same blessing Abraham had , and it says we can also receive the Holy Spirit through our faith.
What does receiving the Holy Spirit do? Jesus talked with His disciples about the Holy Spirit in John chapters 14-16, and He told them what would happen after his resurrection. His conversation starts with Jesus speaking to Philip in John chapter 14 where Jesus was telling them He was going away to prepare a place for them. Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father. Jesus was explaining that if you have seen Him (Jesus) you have already seen the Father, because it was the Father that did the works through Him (John 14: 10) in verse 11 Jesus says, "Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe BECAUSE OF THE WORKS you have seen me do."

What works did Jesus do that the Father performed through Him? Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead, cleansed the lepers, and cast out demons. There are multiple examples of Jesus doing this all throughout the Gospels. And the book of Acts tells us, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38) Jesus not only performed these miracles Himself, but He also gave His disciples and others the authority to do the same. Here are a few examples:
“Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.” (Matthew 10:1) And, “These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” (Matthew 10:5-8) Also In Luke 10:1-9 Jesus anointed 70 other people to do this, so it wasn’t just the disciples.

So, I believe these are the works Jesus was talking about in John 14:10-11 that the Father performed through Him (healing the sick etc). And in the very next verse, verse 12 Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, ANYONE who believes in me WILL DO THE SAME WORKS I have done, and even greater works because I am going to my Father."

What did going to His Father have to do with it? If you keep reading in John Jesus explains that the Holy Spirit would come AFTER Jesus ascended into Heaven, and not before (read John 16:7). When the Holy Spirit was poured out in Acts chapter 2, and the disciples were anointed with the Holy Spirit, that's when they were able to do the same works Jesus did, and even greater works than Jesus. We can see examples of that in the following passages:

Peter healed through his shadow Acts 5:15-16 "so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. 16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed."

Paul healed through handkerchiefs and aprons Acts 19:11-12 "Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them."

Paul healed everyone on the Island of Malta Acts 28:7-10 "In that region there was an estate of the [a]leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. 8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. 9 So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. 10 They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary."

You might say, “Yes, but these were the disciples, we don’t have that same anointing today.” But what did Jesus say before He descended into Heaven?? 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. (Mark 16:15-20 KJV)
So Jesus said, healing the sick would be a sign following those that BELIEVE. The power to heal comes from the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Even Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit before HE ever healed anyone. But my point in writing to you is because you say certain preacher’s theology is all wrong. You watched a documentary that slandered many preachers that are doing the very things I am showing you here: healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons. I have seen some of those documentaries you are referring to. Because I watch these preachers, I KNOW they a take a lot out of words and phrases out of context, they piece them together wrong, and they twist a lot things to make it look evil, when it is not.
People often slander what they don’t understand. You may not agree with anything that I have told you, but everything I have shown you it Scripture. You may interpret it differently than I do. But I can tell you that once I got ahold of teaching that told me God wants me well, and that it was paid for in Christ’s atonement, I have been getting better. It took a while to renew my mind to the truth of God’s Word, but once I understood key principles about healing, I have been putting it to work. Let me explain further:
In Mark chapter 11 Jesus spoke to a fig tree and cursed it. He cursed it because He was upset that He saw the tree off in the distance, but when He came to the tree it didn't have any figs on it to eat. So Jesus said in Mark 11:14, "May no one ever eat fruit of you again." (NIV)

In Mark 11:20-21 it tells us that as Peter walked by this same tree the next day, and he noticed the tree was withered from its roots. And Peter commented to Jesus that the tree Jesus had cursed the day before was all withered.

Jesus explained in Mark 11:22-24 to have faith in God, and that ANYONE can speak to a mountain (problem in their life) and if they don't doubt, but believe in their heart that it will happen, then the mountain (problem) will obey you. He went on to say that we could ask for anything and if we believe we will receive it.

This story was also repeated in Matthew 21, and in verse 21 "Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen."

Jesus demonstrated how to release the anointing power of the Holy Spirit to "move mountains." He wasn't talking about literal mountains, He was talking about how to make the problems in our lives disappear. We do that by speaking to the mountains (problems) in our lives just like Jesus did when He spoke to the fig tree, or when He spoke to the storm and told it to be still, or when He said, “Lazarus come forth,” etc. Jesus spoke, and it took place, and He said we could do the same.
Since I have learned about our authority in Christ, I have been speaking to my body, and it is getting better. There is more to it than that, but the point is that healing is manifesting. I still have a long way to go, but I have also come a very long way. God answered my prayer and through preachers that preach what you believe to be false theology, I have learned what I needed to learn to take authority over the sickness, and I am healing. Ephesians 1:3 tells us that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. God has already given us the blessing, the same blessing Abraham had, and it is released into our lives, or into the natural realm through faith, and words.
I also wanted to add to what Mike said about people being able to have more faith to believe for someone else to be healed, because they can’t see into the other person’s heart and know all that they have done wrong, whereas when it is yourself, you can feel condemnation that can hinder your faith to believe for healing. My added thoughts are that it’s also harder for the one sick (or in Bill’s case the one wearing glasses) to believe, because many times when a person is experiencing the symptoms, pain, or whatever, what is going on in the natural realm screams very loudly, and it makes it hard to focus on the promises of God, and believe them for yourself. But someone else praying for you isn’t experiencing any of that, so it’s easier for them to just focus on seeing the healing come to pass. The symptoms don’t affect their faith at all. I have had Mike pray over me many times and command symptoms to leave, when the symptoms were affecting me too much to have faith for myself.

Was healing paid for at the cross/in Christ’s atonement?
Or in other words can we know it’s God’s will to heal everyone, the same as we know God wants everyone to be saved?
Here are some passages that have helped me have peace about that question:
As I’m sure you know; Matthew, Mark, and Luke are referred to as the synoptic Gospels, so they often tell the same stories in each of them. From these three variations of the story, we can see that it was definitely physical healing that Matthew was talking about. But what passage is Matthew referencing from Isaiah here?

But I want to put some context to that, so here is Galatians 3:6-14:

8 What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would make the Gentiles right in his sight because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, “All nations will be blessed through you.”[ 9 So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.
10 But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”[ 11 So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”[ 12 This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, “It is through obeying the law that a person has life.”[f]
13 But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” 14 Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.”
What does receiving the Holy Spirit do for us?

Until Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit, He hadn’t performed a single miracle. If you keep reading in John Jesus explains that the Holy Spirit would come AFTER Jesus ascended into Heaven, and not before (read John 16:7). In Acts chapter 1:15 it tells us that there were 120 believers gathered together and Peter was preaching to them, and if you keep reading it tells us in Acts chapter 2 that these believers that were all gathered in one place were all filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:4). In Acts 2:17 Peter explained that what was happening was a prophecy that the prophet Joel had given, and he quoted what is said in Joel 2:28-32, that in the last days, or the days after Christ’s ascension the Holy Spirit would be poured out on all people, and Peter explained what would happen through the Holy Spirit. People would prophecy, dream dreams, see visions, and wonders would be displayed in heaven [the earth’s atmosphere] and on earth. I believe this is what Jesus was talking about when He said in John 14:12 when He said that anyone who believes in Him would to do the same works Jesus did, and even greater works than Jesus. We can see examples of that in the following passages after the Holy Spirit was poured out:

Peter healed through his shadow Acts 5:15-16 "so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. 16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed."

Paul healed through handkerchiefs and aprons Acts 19:11-12 "Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them."

Paul healed everyone on the Island of Malta Acts 28:7-10 "In that region there was an estate of the [a]leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. 8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. 9 So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. 10 They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary."

You might say, “Yes, but these were the disciples, we don’t have that same anointing today.” But what did Jesus say before He descended into Heaven??
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. (Mark 16:15-20 KJV)
Anyway, I believe the Bible makes it clear that healing was in Christ’s atonement, and we can still make it manifest today.
