We uphold the Bible and living a Christ-like life, not as a way to heaven, but as a reflection of our love for God.
Who is the most famous LIVING person you know? That was a question that my 9th grade teacher asked his class years ago. At the time writing Jesus Christ didn't even enter into my mind. To me Jesus was kind of like an absentee father. He paid child support in the form of blessings every once in a while, but He never really seemed to be there. Now that was me back in the 9th grade. But then the only time I talked to Him was when I said my prayers at night.
As I grew older and more mature in my faith I realized that I had to invite Him into every aspect of my life if I wanted Him in every aspect of my life. Sometimes we get busy, sometimes life just takes its toll. I can remember when I made time for Him every moment of my life and how happy I was to just talk to Him.
We cant have Him as a part time father if we really want to be His full time children.

It's like I'm an empty vessel that He can't resist filling, and so it is important for me to empty myself of inordinate love of other things and people, so that Jesus remains #1 in my heart. I love your last sentence, and I do want to be His full time child.
This is the seventh miracle that Jesus has performed and it is the capstone of all His miracles in the New Testament. The reason that Lazarus’ resurrection is so amazing is that in the Jewish culture, a person was not actually accepted as being fully dead and with no chance of coming back to life after three days. This is what is called to “sit shiva” for three days for grieving purposes. They also “sit shiva” three times each day. This was so that the family could grieve their lost family member. The irony is that Jesus would later be resurrected from the dead after being in the grave for three days.
