Christian Support Group Community Group
This is a place for everyone who loves Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (or those who are seeking Him), to come and discuss important issues in their lives and find support from fellow believers in regards to their faith and life. We uphold the Bible and living a Christ-like life, not as a way to heaven, but as a reflection of our love for God.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever!" Psalm 111:10
"Get wisdom; get insight;
do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth." Prov. 4:5
But of course, your question is, how to we get wisdom? How do we obey Christ?
I used to be very much a person who believed grace was all that mattered. I tried to obey Christ, but my heart was not committed to "following" Jesus with all my heart.
The more I read the Bible, the more I realized that I need to become a disciple, and follow Jesus, just like when Jesus called Peter and Andrew to leave their nets and follow him.
"And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him." Matt 4:19
And it became more and more obvious that although I went to church, read my Bible and prayed daily, was very involved in church and community, I was not carrying my cross daily. That means I needed to put Christ first.
"Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Matt 16:24
As for courage, the Old Testament is full of the courage we get by waiting on and trusting in God.
"Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" Psalm 27:14
So maybe we need to all spend time waiting on the Lord, and God will give us the courage we need to walk with him!
"as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death." Phil. 1:20
Now that is the kind of courage we all can pray for!
I'm not at this point myself, but I think this is the crux of the problem, to love Him enough that we wish and will to do all that He asks and more....
confused myself nearly, how about ypu?
I mean seek wisdom so that you can discern rightness or wrongness, and courage that when called to right action you will not fail.
Both are precious gifts not to be taken lightly
