I don't mind being "peculiar"...it means that I am set apart for God.
Thanks for sharing this kathilee. It's o.k. to be different from the world. We represent God, and we are to be like Him, and He is most Special and Unique..not as the world is.
This post helps me to see that there is purpose for my life. And...it's o.k. to be peculiar!

Great post!! Isan't it wonderful to know that God chose us to set us apart for His good work !!. We all want and need to feel special and our Lord has set us apart from others in the world. Have you watched someone let's say in the line at the grocery store or at the mall and how they act and hold themselves or the way they talk , has it ever make you wonder if they are a Christian? God's people are different from the world, the fruits of the Spirit are manifested in our life, Love, Joy Peace, etc.... By our example we can share with the world that there is a loving God who wants them to know He loves them too. So let's embrace being a peculiar people!!!!!

Great post and so true! We are called to be different - and not be conformed to this world. That doesn't mean being different just to be strange or weird. But rather to let the light of Christ shine from our hearts.

I looked this passage up in The Message. It is a very loose translation, more of a paraphrase, but it really sums it up for me. He always uses more than just the one verse though, so it is Titus 2:11-14 - So the verse we are talking about is at the end. See if you can find it!!

"God’s readiness to give and forgive is now public. Salvation’s available for everyone! We’re being shown how to turn our backs on a godless, indulgent life, and how to take on a God-filled, God-honoring life. This new life is starting right now, and is whetting our appetites for the glorious day when our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, appears. He offered himself as a sacrifice to free us from a dark, rebellious life into this good, pure life, making us a people he can be proud of, energetic in goodness." Titus 2:11-14 MSG

For most of my life, I've wanted to seem "normal", and hubby used to say, "What's normal?". Now I'm starting to realize that to be normal is to be secular and godless, which is not what I want. All of the readings and comments have inspired me to be happy with having been picked by God Himself to be a bit strange in a lost world. Many strange and unique types are walking the narrow path to heaven, with Jesus singing each or our own "peculiar" tunes as we follow Him.

For most of my life, I have never felt as though I fit in with most..In groups of people discussing things..I would never be interested in secular topics . I would be distracted by the beauty of falling snowflakes or sunlight sparkling on the water as people around me would be talking about violent movies. Now I am starting to really realize that the Lord created me and all of you.. unique and different from the rest..If the lord loves me then I will have to accept myself . When I read this this morning..it inspired me and i felt lead to post..I am so happy that others have enjoyed it! Praise God..He loves us all so much!!

Kathilee, you are special and I love your posts. God has picked you and like Judy said, the goal is NOT to be normal (something I have never been), but rather to recognize that we are created in the image of God, and to know that God loves us. Then of course, we have to choose to walk with God, and allow the Holy Spirit to really transform our hearts, minds and souls.

I'm really getting excited about this group, and what we are learning and the way God is leading us all!

Peculiar , we dont fitin to the world view, families and little clicks. Instead of feeling badbe proud you dont.

I never want to be like the worldly people, the ways of the world are sinful and the wages sin pays is death.
Satan the devil is the God of this world, the Bible tells us when Satan was cast out of heaven he was thrown down to the earth.Narrow is the path and few that find it that leads to heaven.I pray to find and get on that path and stay on it.

Love your idea norma! With all of the recent Christmas food, I don't fit into my normal size t-shirt..ha..ha.
So my t-shirt would read..So..I don't fit into this crowd, nor this t-shirt?? Ask me why??
Explaining why I don't fit into their worldly system might be a little more challenging than explaining why my t-shirt doesn't fit!
It certainly would give an opportunity to explain my faith in Jesus Christ, and what faith in Him means to me personally. It could spark a very interesting conversation!
Any other ideas that help to spread God's love to others are welcomed. I am always looking for effective ways to share God's love with others...
