I think it depends on the reason we're telling the story. If I'm telling someone so they will look up to me or think better of me, it's probably my pride wanting strokes. However, if I find someone who's feeling pretty hopeless and not trusting in God, I will sometimes tell one of the wonderful things He's done for me when I've felt down or hopeless. Then the intention is to speak well of God and HIs faithfulness, not to impress them about me. If they do get a bit impressed for whatever reason, I try to get their focus back on how they can have this same kind of relationship with God. Just point to Him as much as possible. Hope this helps. if it helps another share, we all need the encouragement through the hard times through the plateaus when we think He has forgotten.

I often think of the times God has used me when I havent even been aware and then someone tells me I am so humbled by it but also encouraged as it often is told when I feel I am of no use at all.

I think it all depends upon whether or not your goal is to glorify God when sharing it. Encouraging others in Christ would be part of that too.
