So I just started reading this book Elisabeth Elliot On Asking God Why and it is FANTASTIC! I got to Chapter 2: Singleness Is A Gift and its about a missionary who, from a very young age, knew God's call for her life was to be single. Because this book is on asking WHY, the question for the chapter was "How does she 'handle' the loneliness?"
As the chapter goes on it shows how this woman turned into "Amma" or "Mother" for over 900 children saved from sex trafficking in India. She was single yet was so overloaded with love and children her life was complete and her cup overflowed a million times over. She had her moments but still, her life was made complete by God. A quote from the book that really jumped out to me was this...
"The devil painted pictures of loneliness that were vivid to her years later. She turned to the Lord in desperation. 'What can I do, Lord? How can I go on to the end?' His answer: 'None of them that trust in me shall be desolate' (Ps. 4:22) So she did not 'handle' loneliness- she handed it to her Lord and trusted his Word."
How incredible is that?!?! She HANDED her situations over to God instead of HANDLING them herself and was better for it! This is just an incredible testimony of how we should ALL handle things! We need to stop trying to control our lives because God's plans are so much better than our own!

The story of Elizabeth Eliot is also amazing. She and her husband were missionaries in South America, to the Auca tribe. They killed her husband, but she and the other wives went back to lead the whole tribe to The Lord. They trusted God in spite of the circumstances!
