The Jews sinned by denying Jesus, so that the non-Jews could embrace him. God hardens hearts, and he melts them as he will. Trust Him. Love your friend and pray for her.

How can we command others not to sin? Don't we all sin every day? I commend your friend for being humble enough to openly announce her sin to you in the eyes of God. Most people hide their sin from one another. She needs your love and prayer, not your rejection and anger.

I'm not angry with her at all. This isn't me being defensive either just stating fact. I'm confused and concerned for regards to her and frustrated with the rest of the girls in my group for not speaking up because yes, we are all sinners, but she doesn't see it as sin.

I'm sorry I misunderstood you. You know, I run into that a lot. My mom is Christian, but she and I have VERY different ideas of what is a sin. Sometimes I just want to pull my hair out when she sins and doesn't acknowledge it. But, that's my problem. I have nothing to do with how she sees things, or what she sees. Every time I find myself frustrated with her denial, I find myself far from Love.

They say to love the sinner and hate the sin. There are many heteros who have sex outside of marriage, and I love them, but still try to warn them about that sin, as it will probably keep them from heaven if they don't forsake it. Same with a homosexual. They can't help that their inclinations are to the same sex, BUT, God doesn't allow them to go ahead and follow their instincts, just like with the unmarried heteros.

My main goal is to try to help people from going to hell, and not to make them like me. If done in love, with concern, I think a person could understand that you don't fault them for their "bent", as maybe we don't have control over that, but we DO have control over our actions.

God doesn't tell us that it's ok to do sinful actions, no matter how many secular people think it's ok. So many people don't even know what God wants from us, and we have a duty to enlighten them when something is an obvious sinful action, prohibited by the Bible.

How many straight people sin? How many married people sin? How many Christians sin? We all sin regardless of what lifestyle we life. It’s not the what the sin is, but the truth that there is sin because like this girl, we are all human and all sinners. I would not suggest supporting the sin, but I would not turn away from the sinner. I can’t support my sins, but I wouldn’t want people to turn away from me. Love her as you would love yourself and encourage her to over come your sin as you try to over come your own sin. Others, I would step away from the issues because it will come across has judgment.

P.S, I have a family member who is gay. I am not supporting their sin, but I am not turning my back on them or standing in their life with judgements. I love them and encourage them. The rest is upon them and between God and them.

Good point, Christopher. Hate the sin, love the sinner is an excellent approach.

We can accept a person, and even accept if they are trying to not do a sin but failing, but I sure wouldn't want them to get the idea that that behavior is OK. We don't want to help the devil walk them straight into hell. We can't have more compassion than Jesus, and he warned about certain activities leading to hell. He told people this so they could avoid going there, which is a compassionate thing to do, IF we're doing it in a loving way, and not rejecting the person.

I turn to the verse that says for us to be more concerned with the log in our own eye than the splinter in oour friends eye. Is it not better to extend the love of Christ by not jumping on their sin? I mean it is sin but I sin I know daily even if it is just a fleeting thought. All sin is seen by God as the same color BLACK! not shades of grey here not even one let alone 50!!!!

Becareful not to condemn another for your own fears or shortcomings friends. We can be much more influencial if we do not rant and rave. If asked by someone I will be honest and give my word of truth . We are not to be their judge but rather we are to lead them to the Truth-Bearer.

I do some listening online at a site where people who are in emotional turmoil come to be listened to. I like this, because it is a form of charity I can actually do well. A few weeks ago someone asked me if their being gay was wrong. Regrettably, I said no. I am just learning about Christianity and wasn't really aware of the sinful nature (other than what I heard from others) of homosexuality. Also, I just wanted to comfort them. I realize this was wrong. Now I fear I have helped lead them away from God.

I will pray for forgiveness, and confess it in Confession, but...am I ruined? I know no one here can offer a sure answer, since God does the judging, but...I'm scared.

Being gay isn't wrong, so you were correct about that part. Having sex outside of marriage is wrong, whether it be fornication or sodomy.

It helps to get to know someone well enough to be able to talk about the behavior when they bring it up. I think some of the other posters here think I run around being a huge pain in the neck. Actually, I'm very compassionate to everyone I know, but IF someone is committing a serious sin which could send them to hell, I try to warn them, as I don't want anyone to go there, including me.

I don't agree that all sins are the same, I believe some are serious and will keep us out of heaven, as Our Lord described in that one verse about fornicators and adulterers not entering into the kingdom. Do people fall or fail at times? Yes. But I sure don't want to let anyone wander through life ignorant about how this politically correct behavior is not necessarily a moral behavior according to Jesus Himself.

@JudyPrudy, I am just wondering about why you say that being gay isn't wrong? I thought there is scripture saying something to the effects that man shall not lay down with man as he does with woman. Just wondering.
