Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
Words Have Power - Blessing Or Curse
scrivener
I have been doing quite a lot of research. Of late I printed out and have been reading The Lost Books of the Bible (Adam & Eve 1 & 2 ; The Book of Enoch; The Book of Jubilees; The Book of Jasher and more on the docket.) Wow, do those books get down to the nitty-gritty about family life. Noah had his 3 sons and wives go with on the Ark, but before they set sail the Lord told him he would be turned against (!!!) but I guess the Lord knew Noah needed some help with all those critters and the boy still had clean Adamic DNA although also the natural fallen nature. Often their solutions were to part ways, go a distance, and not bother to keep in contact, LOL.)
Up until 400 AD, BTW, these were considered part of the Bible until the Council of Nicea where they were tossed out, by one solitary vote margin, and relegated to the dust heap of history. Rather a pity, IMO, because these back-story books (many by Moses) give information that when Moses wrote Genesis there were areas where it struck me that the Inspired Author, Moses, was sketchy in some areas as if he expected the reader to know whereof he spokes so he wasn't going to "chew his cabbage twice" on that accord.
And when I saw references in the New Testament to some of these "Lost Books" I decided IF they were good enough for apostles to read and reference in latter scripture that made-the-cut...why not me?
I'm long in tooth enough to remember the hullaballoo happened when the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the latter 1940s. Our parents kept up with the news and discussed interesting stuff like that even as we were toddlers listening in. It seems that soon there was tremendous effort to debunk The Dead Sea Scrolls and they "went away".
The point being in all of this reading, hundreds of pages of Lost Books I've printed out, quite a lot is devoted to The Blessing, and some attention to the more rare Cursing..and to the rigors of families getting along (or not)..
"The Word", of course, is Jesus Christ Who was before we had Logos/Word/Language.
And words, spoken or written, have power. Blessings were taken seriously, as were Cursings.
Some decades ago, I coined a phrase I'd never heard another use before, "A Molher's Curse" (please note "Nothing New Under The Sun") and nowadays a quickie search engine of "A Mother's Curse" brought up myriad links, most devoted to exactly what I'd bumblingly called it 40 years ago to get a listener to understand the concept that is unfortunately all too common.
Due to Ham's sin against his father, Noah, the elderly gent cursed Ham's son Canaan, and it was not a one-generation thing but goes forward. I think The Evil One listens right up when an infuriated human being says something on par with "I hope to hell you have---(blah! blah! blah! - happen to you." I'd often noticed that those letting fly with machine gun like volleys of a curse against another did NOT call on God or the Lord with such a desire..but said "Hope to hell!". At the time I thought perhaps they did not dare beseech God with such a request because they knew The Lord hearing such mean claptrap would say, "Uh...no. That's nasty!"
It seems curses against one's own flesh are the most powerful. And the way The Blessing was desired by ancient children, it had to have been powerful, too. A blessing so precious that often it wasn't even given until the old geezer was almost on a death bed and a lot of time to think it through.
I grew up with a highly intelligent mother, frustrated being a parent, and boy could she let fly, as could her mother, and I assume her mother before her. Among some of my earliest memories as a 3-4 year old were literally being told: "I hope tp hell when YOU have a daughter SHE WILL HATE YOU AS MUCH AS I DO."
At that point I knew nothing of blessing/cursing...it seemed just Mother Blowing Off Steam. I never dreamed her words held power in an unseen realm and into the future....
I've learned a lot about Blessings and Cursings in recent weeks of reading...and I no longer wonder why our eldest child is as she is; She does seem to hate me to that degree my mother repeatedly wished for me. When the child was growing up my mother who had mellowed somewhat pointed out "she seems to actually hate you" and even told me I was quite a good mother and didn't deserve that.
I'd dismiss it to Ma as her "being a teenager". No clue it was something deeper and a curse on an egg in the ovary of a toddler....
I did receive the parental Blessings before my parents died, sincerely given, gratefully received. Had I had ANY clue about the severity of blessings/cursing upon receiving The Blessing from my mother I'd moight have been quick enough on my feet to have said, "Hey, Ma, ya mind nullifying those many curses you lobbed at me all the time?"
Bottom line is my ED may actually at times wonder why she hates me to the degree she does. And why she revels in dishonor.ing me to her siblings and the grandsons. And IMO with each dishonoring she, herself, IS validating affirming (as her OWN) the generational curse flung upon her. It also explains why she relishes trying to foment dishonor and estrangements among siblings to varying degrees of success.
I have spent years, as have some of you, wondering what on earth we did so grieviously wrong. I am now dealing with, accepting that it is the culmination of many hostile and heated curses that I'd have a daughter who HATED ME...come to fruition.
And the cherry atop the sundae was when she paired up with a fellow who dishonored his parents and his siblings. So they have been quiteThe Match., affirming one another..
I cannot fix this. I am through trying. Only the Lord can. I have bookmarked sites on prayers to break curses. I know with God ALL things are possible; but as long as I've lived with the curses and the culmination...I am painfully less than optimistic....
And as I've done my days of research I have discovered this hatred of parents and full-bore dishonor is a burgeoning social phenomenon. In reading ya'll's commentary and stories and trying so hard to make peace and get a clean slate wotj DCs, I find myself wondering if there's a trace-back and such blood-;line wrangling at one time that A Mother's Curse was flung...and manifests in children raised well and in Christian homes.
I've been sharing insights with DH. I stumbled across why Christ was on the Cross with a crown of Thorns. Earth was cursed due to Adam's transgressions, and the Crown of Thorns on our Savior's Brow was so that His Blood might be applied to the Thorn Needles that the Curse of the unfriendly thorny earth might be broken.. I'd always kind of randomly wondered why Thorns were fashioned into a Crown...now I feel I know.
And to my credit, no matter how righteously riled or irked I have over the years I NEVER hurled A Mother's Curse against any of my kids in any way, shape or form.
May you find your peace as I have mine.

And nowadays as I firmly believe we are in the Last Days, also, the times an inspired author of a book in the Bible was shown something or had it revealed but then to Seal It Up for the latter times and days it will be understood. Now seems to be the time. There is now a gullywash of material one can find online regarding this...BUT as with all things: BE DISCERNING...and Seek God if a viewpoint should be read or go to a different link....
We were told that these times would be "as in the days of Noe"....and until reading this I had NO idea exactly how decadent those days were. Jesus in His sermon explained that "had those days not been shortened no flesh would remain." I've NEVER been good at riddles; some scriptures seemed almost like a one-liner "riddle". I'd read that and think, Well, our Creator needs to stop short if He wants remaining flesh - He's God - HE CAN DO IT.
I was totally oblivious that it was talking about literal DNA. Adam was created with perfect DNA, Eve froj him...therefore they were able to reproduce and their children marry siblings because the DNA was pure and untained. Nothing "bad" genetically. In the Days of Noe/Noah there was genetic manipulation as we are somewhat aware of it today...so God was like a Farmer that saved His few precious sees - eight of all humanity - to put on the Ark with carefully selected creatures of untainted breeding capacity. So the words about no flesh being saved if times not shortened makes brutal sense.
Trey Smith has wonderful videos on Youtube where he speaks of all of these matters and has done major research. I don't always watching just turn up volume and listen as I do housework. The one on Noah's Ark he has done is stupendous as he blends science and geology and science to underpin The Flood. It can be seen/listened to here: I'd suggest for first go-round one WATCH it, long as it is.

There is certainly more than enough remaining in The Bible to get people saved, but after discovering the Lost Books I feel it was as if a few rungs on a ladder had been removed. Now it is like the "rungs" have been put in place again to make the climb/understanding easier.
In Revelation there was a wrap-up warning to mjan not to tinker with Scripture. Well, as I've muttered to people a few times over the years, mankind might tremble...the Evil One laughed....and saw to it information was tossed out although God as in Job DID "put a hedge" around it to degree salvation can be expected from sincere reading/study of scripture.
Although it is NOT scripture in any way,. many years ago I had library order in the history as written by that Josephus dude who chronicled the times, heavy reading, but terrific to understand society (i.e. what, exactly, betrothal was and done).
The person intrigued and led me to read the Bible and to Salvation assured me "You will never outgrow the Bible. There's always more there to discover." Amen. AMEN!
Y'know for everything the Lord God has done and established The Evil One has his counterfeit.
So, like you apparently made the connection, so have I about the Agreement, where two or more agree. Well, yes, not too shocking that evil influences strengthen when Two meet up and become One and share a mindset, either.
And Satan does love to us believers to crucify other Christians.
