How did your ES respond after your DH spoke to him? It is so difficult for you to see this situation with your gs. I am sure your DIL would not appreciate any suggestions,though. Is that true?

This sounds more like exzema, which can affect infants and toddlers. It can be an allergic reaction but not just pets. it could be carpets, dust etc. or there may be a family history. It is often associated with asthma. I hope that the family is under a doctor's care.
My great niece has exzema and has had it since she was a year old. She was so embarrassed by her appearance that she didn't want to go to pre-school and she had the best doctors to help her. Your poor baby reminds me of her. Her exzema got a little better when she was about ten or eleven.

I try not to interfere and i am so scared of not seeing them.My husband came out of room crying and my son was swollen like a bullfrog but right now idont care.She text me and said she trying to get a dr appt for tomarrow so we might be taking them.Yes he has exzema but i believe they have not told the dr. they have dogs.When he comes to our home and stays the day with us i give him a bath,cream him up with the medicine his skin calms down extremley.Thats why i believe a portion of the problem is the dogs.They have carpetbut with 3 large dogs thehair is on carpet i feel they should at least try.I think if we dont take him to dr i will call the office secretly without them telling the parents to ask them animals i just found out dr. name.I am so mad i could scream when they put the dogs before their child.

You are in a very difficult position. You want your GS to get the help he needs but on the other hand not to alienate your ES and DIL. However, I think you need to put the welfare of your GS first. If they don't do anything to make things better, you may want to contact the doctor and see if he/she has any suggestions on how to handle the situation. If it comes to last resort, I might even contact Childrens Services for help but hopefully you won't have to go that far. Prayers are with you

I really hope your gs will get the help he needs at the Dr. I hope you will not have to go further with it and that things will remain somewhat peaceful.

Thank you all for your kind words and support.I will keep all posted on how things go tomarrow.My husband and i live in a 55+ community and no one is permitted to live here under 19 yrs old otherwise i think i wouldhave called children services before now.I honestly dont want to do that iam so afraid gs skin willbecome infected he has alresdy been in hospital on Christmas night for low sodium he was having siezures dil would give him sippy cup constantly and it diliuted his sodium he almost died.Dil has 3 other children and there father,grandparentsare not involved in therelives and i am sorry for that.But we areinvolved thats my sweet grandson.This isnt what GP should have to go through.I am heartbroken.

Sounds like your little grandson may need to have some outside agency check on his health and safety. God has put you in a position of still being a protective adult in this little boy's life.

Eczema can be caused by food allergies as well. I know that my brother had terrible skin rashes as a little child because he reacted to eggs, and anything with egg products in them. He grew out of this and now can eat scrambled eggs anytime now as an adult. It's a tricky skin disorder to diagnose because when the skin erupts into boils and sores, it's an indication that the body is trying to cope with some kind of allergen..which could also be from cat or dog or something in the environment..even from some soaps used during bath time, or even reacting to laundry detergents when his clothes are washed...it's sort of like doing detective work to find out the source of his suffering from eczema..

Praying for your little fellow...it does hurt to see them suffer like that. It's your job (since you are in contact) to help his parents find some type of solution to this problem..at least get some medical care for him.

My little 3 yr. old grandson could be dealing with any number of physical problems..I don't know?? I'm not even given a photo..and absolutely no contact or answers to my calls??? I pray every day that he is healthy, but without any word of how he's doing..I depend on God to care and protect him.

Well Dil text this morning and my husband and i said it we woulnt be going with dil andgs to dr. She got the appt at 4pm and my son will take them.I am at the end of the rope,we have tried to talk to these 2 so called parents but they get an attitude and we back off cause i am afraid of not seeing gs.Wehave provided diapers,wipes,soaps,lotions what ever they needed for this little guy special lotion for exzema we even offered to pay to take to a specialist but the problem is we will hear what the dr suggest they do.and i believe its the dogs i am not an animal hater but when you say you have tried everything except remove the dogs just try and then i will shut up.Oh right now they are furios with my husband and myself.But to bad take care of the little guy.There house is very small and 3 large house dogs just isnt room enough

I am not sure what state you are in edr, and I can only share my experience with CPS (California's 'SUPPOSED" agency that "protects" children.) My grandson has had numerous trips to the hospital, got a black eye while "man fighting" with my daughter's so called friends, even had a sexual incident reported (NOT BY ME BY THE WAY....) AND guess what? Nothing, nada, at least to my knowledge. I do think they have my daughter on their radar though, and I do know she is scared. That is a double-edged sword in itself....the last time he was seriously hurt (he was not with my ED) - had a head injury though, she was too "scared" to take him to the hospital. God, I feel your pain, it is excruciating to see them suffer. Perhaps the Dr. will report this to your Agency, they are mandatory reporters but they are also "careful" so no guarantee on that. I can tell you this, IF YOUR SON or DIL even suspect you may be the culprit behind the report, there is a very good chance you may not see you GS period. Been there, and I am here now, so tread lightly.....prayers and hugs to you:) I truly thought I was doing the righteous and moral thing when my GS was being hurt, I have called before as have MANY others (NOT FAMILY) concerned about his welfare. He is still there, still being emotionally neglected and quite possibly physically abused. I don't know where to turn anymore, and now I am not able to see him to even know what is going on so, again, just tread lightly. The last thing you want is to not be able to see your GS. It is horrible and heart-wrenching and again, this is just my experience, perhaps others have more favorable outcomes? I have heard that my GS's school is now engaged but not sure how much help he is getting, I just pray he survives the neglect and can live a productive life without all the baggage she has bestowed upon him. All I can do now.......they choose the way they live their lives, we don't and we as Grandparents really don't have any rights in my opinion. My heart breaks for these children with selfish parents who only care about themselves. It is frightening, hang in there and do whatever you can to help your little GS and TREAD LIGHTLY, no criticism of their living conditions, etc. Hopefully, someone will step in and help you. What kind of a society have we become that "parents rights" triumph the welfare of their children? I don't get it, I truly don't and never will. We have really not come very far since "what happens behind closed doors, stays behind them" have we? Prayers and hugs, bite your tongue and do what you can to help the little guy!

Well dil text back on what dr. said. That what they are doing is good,keep him cool,dress in cotton,and she does not need referral for him togo to a allergy dr,no dyes,use everything clear,and Dil said she thinks its something he is eating.So thats where we stand.She hasnt said anything bout the dogs soi am assuming she didnt mention it.The only thing i said "glad to hear". I am going to leave it to God because i want to seemy Gs.And if i start i will say things that shouldnt be said. Thank You All for listening to me.

edr, it sounds like the Dr visit went well. I think you are right and it is best to leave this in God's hands now.

You know sometimes my mind runs with me,It makes me wonder if the little fella even went to Dr. I know thats awful to say or think.But alot of times they tell me what i want to hear. But i am still going to leave it in Gods hand. One thing bothered me the night they came for dinner, my gs has the little matchbox cars here at our house and other toys we have for him. and we just moved in our new home 1 yr ago and put new carpetdown and honestly we dont wear shoes,no animals in our home. They told our gs to not put his face on the carpet, and i thought what a nerve when at there home its ok for him to lay on there carpet where 3dogs lay,have accidents,throw-up i would like to ask them do they know how crazy they sound?Oh boy i could write a book lol

Everyone is led to handle similar situations in different ways. Pray first! I think reporting any situation against your EC would increase their anger and they will withhold the gc from you. Rarely are children taken from their parents. For this child's sake I pray they will wise up and put their child in a good Dr's care and listen to him.
