Never say sorry for venting! We all need to at times. So sorry for what probably spoiled to some extent your anniversary outing. I'm in no position to give advice, but if I were you, I would paste a real smile on my face on Tuesday, and be upbeat, and whatever she may or may not say, she looks like the trouble maker. :)

P.S. You know, I read a book by Gretchen Rubin called "The Happiness Project". The most memorable point of it to me was this: "ACT THE WAY YOU WANT TO FEEL, and the feelings will follow". Draw on your inner actress. I have tried it and it works way more than you may think. Instead of following our feelings, make our feelings follow us where we want to be! Try it!!

Oh, those chance encounters are so brutal. I'd think that if you were seated and she was at her place of work she should come over to you to say hello. I like what barbyzhere said about being upbeat next time you see her. Maybe a "you looked very busy" or "we didn't want/mean/intend to interrupt you at work" if the topic comes up. ?? Brainstorm a simple honest one line explanation and say it with a smile and follow it with a cheery "How have you been?!" Hugs to you gordos4

barbyzhere ~ I love your advice! That is exactly what I would do, too. And to top it off, I just finished "The Happiness Project." She has many good points. I found the book helpful and refreshing.

I went 2 months without seeing my GS because I got sick! I agreed to babysit GS 3 nights a week. I started feeling sick, but still watched him. It got to a point where I was weak & just drained of all energy. She asked me to watch him an extra night & I had to tell her no. I told her I was sick & didn't feel like I could give him the attention he deserved. Turns out my thyroid medication wasn't working & I had developed PMR as a result of my Hashimotos disease. I tried to tell her & my son this, & my son told me I was just lazy & to quit acting like a 70 year old woman. They didn't speak to me or let me see my GS for 2 months after that. I finally got to start watching him again a month ago. She plays games with me every week, & I didn't get him last week at all. They have never apologized for how disrespectful they were, I just acted like it never happened. Oh, believe me, I should get an Oscar for my performances. But I am getting SO tired of this. I almost asked my doctor for a note to give them explaining how sick I really was. This isn't even the ES I talk about on here. Honestly, I have 2 estranged sons. This one is not as disrespectful, but has hurt me just as badly.. His GF has absolute control of him, but he allows it, so it's hard to feel sorry for him.

Those chance meetings are so difficult. At least, with planned visits you can prepare a little more. God will show you how to handle these visits. I hope you have an enjoyable time with your gs.

Sorry for your run in.But i pray she wont hold gs as a pawn.I understand how you would feel this way,I go through alot of that also.Always nervous,cause you want to see him so badly.I use to watch gs when son and dil wanted me to but my DH had to step in i was making myself sick and it would take days to get over it.Gs would stay al night and honestly he would not sleep,and still today he doesnt have a sleep routine.I pray things will be ok for you.

gordos..If I were you, I would still be quite thankful that your grandson is still allowed to be a part of your life..albeit not as often as you would like I know. Some of us here aren't even given photos of our precious grandchildren, so at least your grandchild knows what you look like and can pick you out of a crowd. Our ES has kept any connection to us completely out of his life..not even any photos of us in his home..so our dear little grandchildren don't even have a photo of us. Apparently we are unworthy to receive any photos of him and our grandchild soon to be born will surely be kept away from us as well...
I am desperate for any small connection..and would be so happy to see him as often as you see yours. Keep smiling, and be as sweet as you can with the mother of your grandson...God will help you with that.
I would still keep that restaurant on your list of places to eat...

sadmad, I went 2 months without seeing him. I learned that I am able to swallow a lot of disrespectful treatment in order to see my GS. I AM thankful for being able to see him. I have been very nice to her, although I will admit, the first couple of times she brought him over, she was cold as ice, but I was still nice.
