Update on me and situation with my son/dil
lucy76
I am starting to recover from surgery, still dealing with a lot of pain but it's less each day. I'm still worn down but my energy is returning. I've been taking it easy and DH has cooked and done all the cleaning for the past 2 weeks and has taken good care of me and our daughter while I recover.
Things with my son got worse before they got better. He was really be disrespectful and harsh when I refused to hear anymore. After a few days he got calm again and started being calmer. DIL is still not living at home but the two are talking on the phone and have met up for dinner a few times. It's slow but they are working on things. He crashed their car this week driving too fast and making a lane change without looking carefully, it totaled the car but he was able to get another one cheap right away and he wasn't hurt nor were the passengers in the car he hit....I'm thankful for that.
He went to his therapy appointment and set up more. He said he's open to taking medication if suggested. His wife resumed going to her therapist which she had been seeing prior to the marriage for a couple years. One of the conditions to her moving back is for him to get a job, which is something he's been working on this week.
Things are calmer and he's been kind to me and my husband and daughter and it's been nice with him leveling out and returning to normal. I'm hoping he does stay with the therapy for a while and starts getting his temper under control. There are issues they both have that they need to work on so I hope they do work them out before they decide to have children.
I'm still in recovery so it's been a really good way to step out of the situation and let them work on the issues without being kept in the middle. It's been a much more peaceful week despite the scare of him calling saying he had been in a wreck.
Thank you for your prayers and support and helping me through the tough part. Things are still not awesome but they are better and better is progress. Please continue to pray for our family and the situation, we really don't want to be at war for an indefinite amount of time.
Our daughter has been doing well, she's finishing up her 3rd week of spring break and starts piano lessons next week, we're also planting her garden next week. Thanks again to those who offered support and kind words to help me get through it.

Lucy, I am thankful to hear that you have been recovering well and that your son is making progress. That is a lot to be thankful to the Lord for. The car accident could have been another wake up call for your son. I pray their marriage will continue to heal. It is helpful they are both in therapy. Please keep in touch. We are always here for you.

edr, I'm definitely listening. I went to church 2 days after surgery and went to the store the following day, those were big mistakes, it was way too much way too soon. I went on Easter morning but not Easter night. I didn't go Wednesday night either, nor have I went to the grocery. Today I went with my daughter to her first piano lesson but it was close by. I'm not lifting anything, or bending to pick things up and since our bed is set high my husband put something there to help me step up and down into the bed. I'm doing what I can to give my body time to rest and heal.
