CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
He also says in His word that He is the potter and we are the clay. He molds us into jars and pots that can be used by Him...only thing is, I am surely a "cracked" pot because of all the emotional damage of my childhood and now with this estrangement.
There was a story I read once in my morning devotional about a cracked clay pot.
Once there was a man in a remote African village who used two different clay pots to collect his water.
He would use one that was without blemish (no cracks) and the other had a fine crack, noticeable enough and it leaked water whenever he used it.
All the villagers would laugh and mock him, every time they saw him bringing home water from the village well, because they could not understand why he always filled both pots at the well.
"It makes no sense to fill the cracked one" they would scoff.
Ah...yes, but they did not know that along the pathway to the well, the man would throw seeds to the right of his path...and on returning, he made sure the cracked pot which leaked was on the side of the sown seeds.
By the end of the growing season, there were many beautiful flowers, plants...because the cracked pot watered those seeds every time he walked the path.
He would only have one full pot of water when he returned to his home...but look how useful the seemingly useless pot was! Flowers and plants for all the villagers to enjoy : yes, God uses us, the cracked and damaged pots, sometimes even more than the unblemished one...we water the seeds, we water the flowers. Hey...I don't mind being a cracked pot knowing that He uses me, in a different way than the unblemished pot..and God makes my life worthwhile in the end.
Just wanted to encourage you with that little story my friends. He will use our pain. He never wastes the pain we endure in our lives...He has a purpose for it!
