I cannot tell you two how much the Lord has helped me through your posts this morning. I have been struggling with a biblical issue that has me standing in the middle of two different approaches that "sound" logical but both can't be correct. It is amazing how God uses people to direct a persons path when we are truly seeking to know his will, understand His Word properly and to follow Him. Knowing where these "feelings" come from and who they come from is the key.

Well said, Lifeis2short! You have spoken for many of us here. I am struggling with the remorse, guilt, worry, defeat, and the utter sadness of it all. The "what if's" will drive us crazy. You remind me again where I already know (but forget too often) I will find my peace. Thank you.

Saw a news story today about a woman whose daughter was raped and killed. Of course in the beginning she felt anger, rage, and all the terrible feelings associated with such a tragedy. Two years as the trial was finishing, she spoke up for the perpetrator to spare his life and not sentence him to death. Reporters asked her why she did that. She said it was all about choices and free will. It would have been easier to live in darkness and self pity. But she said she felt God's love and knew His will was for her to walk with Him in the light. So the hatred is gone and she has chosen to be thankful for her blessings and to focus on them. We may go back and forth but ultimately God's will for the best for us will prevail. In God we trust.

Wonder sometimes why it is so much easier to dwell on the past,and join in with the enemy in keeping our eyes on the "what ifs" and "coulda,shoulda,wouldas" in life
instead of on what God and will do...and what He has promised to do...

I continually remind myself that my battle is not against flesh and blood, and to look to the Lord to defeat my spiritual foes. My biggest battle is taking my own thoughts captive and trusting Him, no matter what. We can't let our guard down for a minute. While He takes on my enemies, I need to take on praise, thanksgiving, and trust!

Thank you for this post. I found myself in that black hole today. I miss my boys so much I can't stand it. It hurts so much. Others don't understand when I tell them, "I do trust God. Of course I do! And I know He is working it out for good, but while I am waiting...I miss them and I will never get this time back. I can't help missing them. I don't know how to get through that hurt." I know it's the devil. He is the one that separated my family. But the fact remains, we are separated. And I have to live with that everyday.

Tripletmom...We are always going to get let down or hurt at some point and in that black hole on some days. Life has probably taught us through these hard days that we cannot live with our emotional security based on our parents, our children or our grandchildren. When we do we can be easily devastated when things go wrong.. How ever fortunate or not we are with the people we have around is, our security must be in God. He is the one who made us and who loves us like no one else could. Although it is very normal to look for encouragement and approval from those around us, we must not allow disappointment to devastate us if our hopes are not realised from the shifting sands of those who have let us down at the very time in our lives when we needed them the most. It is then that we realize that only our Rock is secure.

It can take time to know healing from our hurts and disappointments, and with this to trust God and truly place him as our security. Disappointment is a nasty enemy. We may hope for just simple, basic things in life, like caring children and adoring granchildren, yet, life brings us disappointment and sadness instead of joy and laughter.

Healing really can take time. Getting through the hurt is a painful process. We are always going to miss them. Just as those of us who have lived through the death of a parent, we learn to cherish the good memories and then move on. Accepting the fact that our families are presently separated is truly something we have to live with everyday. However, one way of being able to let go of the pain is to live with the hope that it does not necessarily mean that this is going to be forever is. We begin to find moments of relief and hope, and quickly learn to take every bit of encouragement that we can get and step aside while God's plan unfolds in the futue - what ever that plan is. There is so much hope and encouragement in the Word of God as you know. Don’t ever loose hope when you know God, as he can restore and heal, and he will never leave you.

It through God's Word that we can know comfort, peace and provision. We have been given the privilege of serving others and sharing God with those who do not know him. Hold on, and hold fast to God’s hand. He will never let go. In God's army, we are all in a field of wounded soldiers. It is in helping others around us who are hurting also through sharing, support and comfort that we are able to forget self and appreciate what we are really here for in the grand scheme of things.
