CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
Right now, it does seem to me that there is more to be resolved but the recent things I hear on the news is that the mom and dad were divorced in 2009. The son was developmentally disabled - possible autism and personality disorders.
Right now, I'm going to make an UNSUBSTANTIATED wild guess and say that the son had a lot of issues with the mom and dad divorcing - perhaps he was angry with the mom for divorcing his dad. (Just guessing!)
Mine and other postings I have read on here about our adult children threatening us with violence, and some have even assaulted us proves to me we should keep them OUT of our lives until THEY change.
Apparently the mom was into target shooting, and like to take her kids too.
I personally do not believe that it is common that people with "personality disorders" go out and shoot people like this on a whim. There has to be a reason in their mind - distorted without a doubt, but what? Is being angry with someone for a perceived wrong warrant being categorized as having a "personality disorder?" If so, we have a LOT of personality disorders on DS estrangement forums because there is a lot of anger that I see at kids who have estranged themselves from their parent(s). But, do we go out and start gunning down innocent people because our anger is telling us to get even by killing innocent victims? No.
Psychologist, IMHO, put far too many labels on people when the basic human problem today is that parents are turning their backs on God.
I know a lot of people are not going to like this but I truly believe that the root cause of what we see going on in this country is a break-up of the family as God intented a family to be from the Bible.
1 Timothy 5:8–”But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” This is a key text. Men, not women, have the responsibility to provide for their wives and children. No one else does. The responsibility lies solely at their feet. This clearly shows us that the role of provider belongs to the husband, not the wife, which makes perfect sense when taken with the rest of the Bible.
1 Timothy 5:14–”So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander.” Nowhere are widows told to work, as men are. Instead, they are to seek marriage and let a man provide for them. This is perfectly consistent with the biblical model for all women.
Titus 2:3-5–”[Older women] are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” No comment needed here. This is a case-maker.
I can clearly remember back around 1980 when I became a stay-at-home when we adopted our son. All the other young mothers in the neighborhood were too. Then the Today show between 1978-1980 began to parade women from the Equal Rights feminist movement on TV claiming that motherhood and homemaking was an inferior calling and that women had an "obligation" to "help" with the financial needs of the home. Women who dared to get on TV and voice an objective opinion were ridiculed and shamed as if they were nothing but slaves for their husbands.
Women started leaving the home in droves as if released from prison. Kids became known as the "latch-key" kids. Then began the breakfast at schools began because the mom's had rushed off to work and the kids weren't being fed properly.
I could go on but I think I have said too much already so I think I will get off the soapbox for now. Sorry if I offended anyone but I was not referring to any one individual. I was expressing my feelings about what I personally believe is the core problem with our kids today.
If this country is ever going to get it's head straightened out, young mother's need to get back in the home and take care of their own kids (exceptions to the rule of course). Motherhood and homemaking is a God-given privilege. (IM no so Humble opinion.)
IMO with both parents working family time has suffered. Chores that the wife got done during the day must now be done at night or on weekends, cutting into time that the family could do recreation together.
