edr, It is so true. I know it was only the Lord who led me to this site 4 years ago. It is so comforting to come here and realize that we understand this long road that each other are traveling on. It is a true blessing.

I agree. A few weeks ago a former teacher co-worker was substituting at the school I teach at and I mentioned my son, as she knew him when he was much younger. Instead of expressing shock, she said that this situation has a name and that over 50% of the ladies in her Bible study either had experienced or were experiencing adult child estrangement. I immediately looked up the condition and was led to this site. Too bad it is so common but comforting that there are others who understand.

I know when I speak about our son to just a select few of our friends they are in disbelief, even my sister was talking my son birth day coming up she said she doesn't think she will call him,she said he hasn't contacted her at all even to thank for Christmas gifts she doesn't want her feeling hurt.I told don't bother.I told her we have done everything possible to contact son/dil and luck and for my mental health and dh physical health we have to let it go and wait till God says it's time,we have to let God soften his heart. I wonder if our son can disown us so easy we problem were never in his life to begin with.and we feel so used,and foolish

Thankfulness and gratitude to God and to each of you for being here for me and each other. This is one of the most unexpected, painful things that can happen to any of us. With death you finally come to closure but here, we will never do that. I am so thankful we can cry out, be understood and help one another.

Estrangement is indescribable unless you have been on the journey. During these 5 years, I have appreciated having the estrangement sites on DS to turn to. This site is exceptionally special because God's presence is here and there is a peace we receive from each other that only can come from Him.

Agreed. I am grateful also for this site, and all the wonderful believers in Christ who share my joys and sorrows everytime I sit down and pour my heart out in a new post. May God bless all of us, and if we never meet in this life, maybe the Lord will let us recognize one another in glory, and we will worship our Savior together, and thank Him for the comfort he gave us through one another.

I agree that this place brings comfort because so many here know the feelings we are feeling. In my real life I don't want to discuss it and have everyone knowing but it's so good to have a safe place to talk about it, openly, without holding back, and know there isn't judgement and that there's a lot of support from others going through the same things. I'm very glad that I have these 2 support groups to discuss it because it DOES make it easier to not feel so alone in this journey.

Yes, lonely it is, but turn around and see the 935 of us walking together all in the same direction "Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith!!!" When one of stumbles or falls, 934 of us are there to pick you up. And Jesus Himself is honored by the unity.
When I am singing to Jesus and/or praying and worshiping our Lord, I imagine I am somewhere in the back of a mighty crowd of believers and I "see" Jesus up in front of everyone YET I also "see" Him right in front of me at the same time!!! Sorta like prayer - He has no problem giving His full attention to each one of us at the same time! Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, hook up to Pandora radio - it's free (and no commercials on my regular computer) and you can create your own range of songs. I'm finishing up at school and listening to these songs inspires me so much. "You Won't Relent" is playing right now.
