I need prayer and your thoughts. As you know, when my husband was diagnosed with cancer, my estranged son and his wife came back into our lives. My son has been working hard to show me how much he loves me and brings his family to all family events. And my little granddaughter always has hugs for me.

My granddaughter is in a ballet recital in a few weeks. My son really wants me to go and has kept me in the loop of seating, buying tickets, etc. Now he emailed me that their seats are such and such so I wrote back and said I'd like to sit with them. I asked if DIL's dad and step mom were sitting with them.

Yes, they are. My son said seat #30 is open so if I buy that seat, he will change seating with in-laws so he sits right next to me.

He is trying. DIL's step mom is a thorn in my side. Please pray for my patience and for me to see the big picture, which is attending my granddaughter's ballet recital. Thank you.

Keep moving forward with your restored relationship. Satan will always try to get his foot back in the door. Sometimes it is hard to deal with situations like this, but remember You were thought of enough to be invited. Focus on your reason for going, your granddaughter. This is her big day and make it that.

You are always an inspiration to us. What a blessing to be part of your son's life and especially your gd. I would accept any seat your son offers without an issue. I think that it will speak volumes to your son and at the same time keep the focus on your gd. It will also be a testimony to the others there on how you handle the situation. I understand what you are saying about your dil's step-mother, but other than that short part of your post, what is happening with your son and granddaughter is truly wonderful. And when you said your son is really "trying".... don't you see God's hand in that? He is really blessing you and I pray you don't let the enemy steal your joy.

Whenever I have been in similar situations (with ex, etc.), I prayed just before event that I be filled and empowered with the Holy Spirit. Worked every time! I pray the Joy of the Lord engulfs you that day and others will see it. Enjoy your gd's recital.

PS I am not sure what traditions are in your area, but here in NJ, parents, grandparents, bring flowers for the girls and present them after recital. Everyone else gave her flowers but I wanted to give my gd something that would last, so I bought her a ballerina figurine that played a song. Just a thought......

Thank you IronCowgirl - I was planning to bring flowers but I LOVE the idea of the ballerina figurine that plays a song. I am going to look for one.

I'm am so happy to read of someone who has been reunited with their ES. Praise God that your DS is trying to do what is right. I pray that God will give you strength, as you so desire to have, to respond in a way that is godly, so that Our God is glorified by how you respond.

I agree with lindajoans, I'd be happy with whatever seat could be found, the important thing is that he wants you to be at the recital. It can be tricky sometimes because seating is hard to find all together, especially at those kind of events, so if he can't find one with you all sitting together don't see it as him picking her family over yours, just go and enjoy the blessing of being allowed at the recital. I'm sure your grand daughter will be happy her grandparents are in the audience, even if the seats aren't all together. It's encouraging that he's working hard to bring his family around and that he's making the effort. I hope you are able to enjoy the day and not have any uneasiness due to the step mother. I hope it all just ends up being a wonderful day for you all.

This is wonderful, what a major change! Pray and focus on your gd and enjoy. This is giving us all hope. And, sit where ever. Also, don't let Satan whisper any lies to you. We'll be praying with you and waiting to hear what God has done!
