CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
One little thought that came to my mind was to find some of those kid stickers that have hearts on them and plaster the whole envelope with them - maybe even buy a red envilope and put a smiley face on it too! Guaranteed to melt even a cold and hardened criminals heart!! Ya think??? LOL
But I talked with DH and we have decided to put a return address on the envelope with a message "wishing you a very blessed Thanksgiving. Love you all forever, Mom and Dad".
It is one thing to deliberately instigate a fight. It is another to cringe in fear and hide in your locker when you see the schoolyard bully walking down the hallway. Should I apologize to the school bully for existing? I think apologizing when a person KNOWS they are not responsible for creating the estrangement only undermines the true meaning of repentance (synonymn for apologizing). I'm not talking about making apologies for things that get said and done after someone has made false accusations against another person. Those things should be apologized for because I truly believe that in every estrangement there is SOMETHING that gets said by all parties in the heat of the moment and after estrangement has gotten off the ground that should not have been said.
I just do not see where Jesus ask us to repent of things we just did not do.
I don't believe you are thinking clearly about the true circumstance you are in.
Show respect to these people. Without doubt, the way they treat you does not seem one bit respectful ! But you can't control their choice to be disrespectful. You can control yours.
It is respectful to leave people alone when they request it. Period. There's not a back door marked "not really disrespectful because..."
Whatever sending a card does to meet your needs,
and I expect in the end it sets you back emotionally,
it most certainly signals clueless disrespect to the recipients.
However, we all feel led or not led to reach out this holiday season we can not predict what the outcome will be. We are not responsible for another person's actions. DH and I will probably email our ED for Thanksgiving. She has not been responding. Sending something is dangerous as she lives with her bf and his mother.
God bless each of you as you consider what is right for you to do. There are many blessings to count.
