Today, as I was working on something at home, I got a gut realization, which I believe was from the Lord, that I should accept the fact that my ES is gone from my life and will never be back. Accepting that is the hardest thing I have ever been asked to do. So I have been going around the house removing photos of him and his family because of the pain it causes to view them. It's not easy to give up hope that things will change, but if I'm correct, that is what God is telling me to do. There is no answer. There is no closure. I'm just to forget about the son I gave birth to and raised to the best of my ability and have never stopped loving? God asks some very hard things sometimes. But I have given up hope. It's too painful to hang on to it anyway.

I'm sorry Barby. Estrangement is very hard and very sad. Acceptance of how things are at the moment is important. We must accept that there is nothing we can do to change other people. I agree with taking pictures down.

We do not know God's plan. He can change things. We pray! I love the serenity prayer. May God give you and each one here His grace.

I understand Barby. I have only my ED's chidhood photos on display, when she was a loving, wonderful daughter.
I only have one photo of her as an adult on display because it was taken standing with her brother, while pregnant with my grandchild. I cherish that photo. All others of her, I have safely stored away.

I understand so well. I have taken down any photos that are of just him alone. But I kept the ones where he is in group pictures, with his siblings, because that was before he met his wife, and it was back when he was normal.

I understand the pain you feel. I too have put away her pictures except in a group or when she was a much younger sweet young girl.

I still have mine up but recently thought what is the point of them staring back at me. It hurts too much.

I understand. I still have a few photos up of mine with the other children. I can't look at any old photos though. It is just too painful.
