CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
But there are many on here who have dealt with so much drama that it really seems better to have no contact. Are your 3 EC siblings by birth? How much do you want to attend the wedding?
While my DH and I hate not having seen our ES for almost 7 years, we have come to the realization that maybe God gave us our son to raise but he was on loan to us. Now he is an adult and making his own decisions. Maybe God wants us to listen to him as he instructs us what path he wants us to take now that the job of raising our son is finished. I don't know; I just pray about it a lot.
Our 3 are all bio siblings adopted at the same time 12 years ago.
I don't want to attend the wedding at all but few will understand why and we'll look like the "terrible" parents who didn't go. We're pretty used to being misunderstood by now but still hate that feeling. If we were to go, people would know we weren't excited about it. Praying that the answer will be clear for us in our situation. Praying we will know what do to before we need to make a decision about that. Meanwhile, we'd just like to be excused from taking part in the drama. ES2 keeps wanting to engage us in it. I have high blood pressure now and just can't take it.
Please take care of yourself right now. You have been down a difficult road (I do understand). It may be best right now to stay away from all the drama and leave your EC in God's hands. He will show you what is right for you and DH to do. Please continue to share with us. God bless you.
We should be the ones given the most respect as their parents but that was never the way of our ED, either.
