My DIL is divorcing my son. She left in March because of him being hostile and controlling over her, came home for 2 weeks, and left again for her own reasons. She went off the deep end and made the last 7 or 8 weeks complete drama and craziness. She attempted to create drama at our church which I had to shut down. She has feelings for my son's friend and wishes to pursue them. If he won't accept her offer to begin an affair she intends to find someone else. She told my son she doesn't want to be married to him and wants to see what her other options are. She's said that she's too good for him and needs to set her standards higher, she has been lots of drama and high maintenance, and he has been the one to pursue her for the past 2 years. She has never loved him like he loves her. She wanted 5 babies and wanted that to start right now, he refused to have kids this early and so that was part of the deal breaker, but not the only reason. She created a lot of drama and craziness that I won't even get into except to say I had to step in and threaten to get police involved and to inform our pastor of her infidelity wishes in order to shut some of the drama down. She's pulled lots of stunts in a short span of time. My son has a broken heart and feels so sad and depressed. He's taken up smoking and hasn't been coming to church very often. All the wrong people (druggie neighbors) are around him to comfort him and keep him company, as well as some school friends who always seem to have their own drama and desperately need a ride and his attention on Sundays but not any other day of the week. I'm worried about who he's hanging out with and what influence they will have on him.

I'm sad for my son that he is going through all this heart ache, but I am a little relieved and happy also, as the estrangement was fully over once she left. She was not the cause of the estrangement, that was all him, she might have caused it to be more definite because of things she said and did, but it was his angst against me that began it. Now, the estrangement is fully over and we have our son back. I'm happy and relieved about that part, but also, sad for the end of his marriage. It's a bittersweet ending.
