So sorry, Gordos. It is so disheartening to realize over again what our EC have done and said against us. The saddest part is realizing how far from God's way they are living. I know when I hear about our ED's life I can't help but praying that she will come back to God. Only He can change our EC.

I am saddened that your ES has done this to you and DH. It is a reminder that our adult children are just that - adults - and they can chose to walk the path we trained them in or walk the other direction. That is when God needs to take over. We have done our part. As hard as it is, we need to give our EC back to God. I did that with my ES, and it was hard.

My ES and DIL have stolen things as well. Mostly from my youngest son. After ES moved out, our youngest son asked if he could have that room, since it had a bigger bed. This made sense, because our youngest son is 6'5 and was sleeping in a little twin bed in the other room, and since that room was too small to hold a larger bed, and ES's room was empty, we said sure. Well, back when ES and DIL were still coming around, they went snooping in that room and took things, because in ES's mind, that room was still his, so anything in that room was also his. Such deranged thinking!

poodlegirl, my ES's way of thinking & justifying his stealing is "they owe it to me", or "it's the least they can do" I really believe he thinks we owe him stuff. After he figured out I wasn't going to and couldn't afford to give him anymore money, he resorted to stealing. Im sure the tool set got sold, it was worth over $100. Oh well, its done. My husband is pretty materialistic & I am not. I never really have been. My son also stole a few of my belongings, & I thought of the bible verse "if a man steals your cloak, give him your tunic as well". He even took a few prized family pictures, which actually upset me more than the material things.

lindajoan - thanks for asking. I do continue to have contact with my ES and his family, although it is a bit superficial I feel. ES and I did have a long talk, a bit about why we withheld the $10,000 for his wedding and the fact that his wife re-gifted my spa gift card I sent her for her birthday to her step mom. He said I need to remember we are both adults now; I told him we both have type A personalities and the need to be right and maybe it is time for us to let that go and instead work on love and forgiveness.

I drove into the cities a few weeks ago to take him and his family and my other son out to lunch. I told my GD that when I move back closer too them maybe we could have a little sleepover at grandma's house. Neither my son or DIL said anything and changed the subject. Guess that won't happen, huh?

Baby steps, right? And continued prayer.
