I don't write much anymore but I still think of us all and pray. It has been almost three years for me, trying to deal with this horrible thing called estrangement. I don't have to cry every day now but not an hour goes by that I don't think about es. I have left it all with the Lord but it still hurts daily. I'm just trying to enjoy my days the best I can.

I believe we all reach the place you are in now. We have tried and done all we can and still their hearts are still cold. Don't give up, God is still in control. Lack of any better word, it is so frustrating. Continuing pray for you and all of us.

Dear Ones, It has been a long time since I have posted, but I continue to read all posts...March 15th was the tenth (10th) anniversary of my daughter running away from home...she left at age 18 and is now 28. I have twin grand daughters who are 8 that I have never met. My daughter is expecting her 3rd child this Fall. Ten years is a long time to be completely estranged, in some ways it seems like a lifetime, and in other ways it seems like this just occurred the other day. I am able to function normally but it took years; but even now there isn't a day that goes by that I do not think about my daughter...I miss her terribly, cry some days, and pray every day. There is still hope...Keep praying!

scituate, I just reached my 7th year of estrangement from my daughter. She is now 31, and I miss her and both of my beautiful grandchildren.

As everloving said, we "understand". We understand the heartache, we understand the ups and downs of emotions, we understand those "anniversary" dates and we understand the passing of each year of estrangement. We understand not being invited to our ec's weddings. We understand missing grandchildren and not being a part of their lives. We really do understand and our hearts grieve for one another.

What is different and special about this estrangement site from any other is that we know about God's faithfulness and the power of prayer. And, we put that power into action as we pray for one another. It may not be God's timing for reconciliation but our prayers have been answered by God providing indescribable peace to members, comfort, encouragement, wisdom, He's removed the feelings of loneliness and/or depression, and He has even healed. Most of all, He desires us to remain faithful and trusting throughout our estrangements and to continue living, loving and praying until He returns.

I think of you often sovery. Let's continue to pray for our EC and that one day they will return (or come) to God and then their family. Until that time, let us persevere in the strength of the Lord.

Amen, Ironcowgirl. Two things have calmed me down so much --- when a friend said this experience had a name (Adult Child Estrangement) and that there was this group I found by googling that name. I'm prepared to be in this situation for the long haul - each day that passes makes it easier for our es to stay away, both physically and emotionally. Hearing that this has continued a decade for some helps me to "pace myself" and take those deep cleansing breaths along the way. Then hearing that some have had reconciliation is so encouraging!!!!! I don't think the curse on Eve (and women in general) was pain in childbirth as much as in child bearing - bearing our children up throughout their years. This hurts so much more than going through labor and delivery!

My saga started seven years ago when my ES met the woman who he eventually married, but the TOTAL estrangement has been about two years. By total I mean no contact at all. Oh there might be an impromptu weird visit here and there, but in between total silence, and then a few months ago I was warned never, to ever contact them again, so I haven't.

Oh Poodle girl ~ the on-again, off-again must have been so disheartening. We have settled into abrupt off for several months now after full communication and visits, so it's been easier to adjust and adapt....I think....
