Lifeis2short ~~~ I'm so sorry for your pain tonight...I can tell how much you are hurting from your topic. I got a little weepy yesterday myself. It overwhelms me when I get thinking how long this has dragged out now. It certainly is like a death in a lot of ways but I really think this estrangement thing is actually worse. With death you have an ending. You know there is no coming back. You go through a funeral process. You see the end with your own eyes. You will always miss those that have passed but you can look at those photo albums with a smile on your face. You can put pictures up on a wall and look at them with joyful memories. Not so with estranged kids that are out to destroy themselves. I wish I could be there to give you a hug, to pray with you and to listen to you - but I can't be. But I will certainly keep you in my prayers tonight. I'm off to bed now anyway. You take care of yourself and please know that we are here for you. We might be a small group but I am amazed by the wisdom and inspiration of those that are here.

I just joined. I'm feeling like you Life's too short. Where did my little girl go? I don't know her anymore. She is now living with me but I hardly see her for more than a few minutes. I found drugs last night. Besides pot. It's happened before but I try to "forget" it. I threw them out. I left her note and said I would throw them out if I saw them again. I said I love her but no drugs. I told her about the dangerous road she was on. She hasn't responded. Why do I feel like I am the bad guy? I don't know what to do. There is nothing I can do. Except pray to let her go. I have many days now where I am basically ok and accepting and then something happens and I get so scared and so sad again. I guess this is a process for life.

It is without a doubt that those sweetest memories of the past that arise suddenly and unexpectedly can set us back in time and generate those feelings of sadness for what our children have turned into. None of us saw it coming; or at least I didn't. When one of those "moments" like you are experiencing arises, I think of my son walking down the sidewalk towards home. He looks up and sees me. He starts running and jumps up into my arms and gives me a hug and holds on tightly. Then reality snaps me back into life as it really is. You might as well stick a fork in me 'cause I'm done for the day. I just grab the box of Kleenex and feel the pain for a while. After I have emptied the Kleenex box I say a prayer, turn it over to the Lord and get busy doing something to try refocusing my mind. I can't change what is.

Hon, you're going to be ok. It is normal to have good days and bad days. This whole thing is not God's plan for the family. It hurts Him just as much as it hurts us. When we hurt like you are right now we can know that our Comfortor is hurting with us.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." [1Cor. 1:3-4]

Lifeis2short....I'm so glad you are doing better today! I'm so happy to have ALL of you during this road we have to travel together. It has helped me so much to know that there really are Christians who DO have burdens that are really heartbreaking and can still have the joy of the Lord in their lives at the same time.

I, too have these falsh backs of my ED. I never in my wildest dreams thought something like this would happen. she was difficult but NOT THIS. She is so unhappy with her husband, so it is better to blame her family rather than her husband.

I'm trying to be gratful for what i have. My husband is in remission from a cancer that is not curable. It'T treatable but no cure yet. The lord is taking care of that situation. It's going on 6 years now. he is doing great!!! Praise the Lord for this miracle. Blessing to each one on this site for their caring and insight and prayers. We all have the same feelings and can KNOW we aren't crAZY FOR HAVING THESE FEELINGS.

Oh, my dear...I do know the feelings you're feeling. Your "lifeis2short" name says it all. It is too short, but our children have not got this message yet. There are days when I, too, am steeped in sadness and wonder over how this present situation could possibly be. But it is what it is, and yes, God IS doing a new thing. Forget the former things, he admonishes us. In fact, I'm the author of a novel about mother-daughter estrangement titled "Former Things" and I have a blog, also. Visit www.formerthings-bygail.blogspot.com. Every night before I go to sleep I list five things I'm grateful for and five things I want (as part of my prayers). At the top of the "want" list is that I want salvation for my daughter. When that happens, everything will fall into place. We must hold on to hope. Everything is in God's timing, not ours. We are called to be patient and wait!
