CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
Right now concentrate on feeling healthier. Pray with your DH for these girls. God will hear you, but remember, it is in "His" timing, not ours.
Lifting you up in prayer right now.
Ideas you ask? Are they in your will?
You mentioned that your EDs live a distance away. Our ED (for 2 years) lives about 10 minutes away. She has surrounded herself with enablers who believe her "stories". Whether our EC live close or far, we can not change their hearts ONLY GOD can. The most we can do is pray for our prodigals. If you went right to their homes, as you mentioned doing, it would not change them if God has not first changed their hearts. The prodigal father waited. The most we can do is pray.
Our ED is also out of our will. We can not reward a child that dishonors their parents.
You have a husband to live for. I, too, am 64. I have been semi-estranged for 28 years. I told my ED about this move that I do not have another 28 years to sit on the side line and not be included in any family holidays or celebrations but just to be allowed to see my grandson for 2-3 weeks a year. I can see my GS for that amount of time from any place in the world.
As hard as it is, be resolved to live. Lean on the Lord. Rest when you need to. Take care of yourself.
I, too, have changed my will. I watched my mom grieve for 4 years before she died. She kept asking me to tell ED to come visit. ED never would. My mom died very very miserable and lonely. I had my GS at my house when she passed. I think she was holding on to see if ED would come to visit her. ED couldn't make the 405 hour trip to visit. We had to take GS make to her after my mom passed. Her husband and her would not even come to pick GS up.
I don't want to die that way and I have resolved not to wait a single day for her any longer. If she has an epiphany , that is wonderful. But I cannot bank on it any longer. She is a very cold, hardened person toward me and my DH. It is sad but factual.
