CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
I don't know why some children stray and stop following Jesus. For some, it is seems to be a time of questioning the faith that was taught them by their parents. There are so many different religions out there that it seems as though they want to find out for themselves if they were taught the right one and the truth of what they were taught. Many come through that "testing" period and become more strengthened than before. So, that period that is most difficult for believing parents, can end up being a good thing for the kids. Just keep on your knees.
For others, sometimes anger at the parents for some reason walking away from their faith can be the instrument of punishment. Yet, I also know of some wonderful, loving parents like out previous pastor for example, that put their hearts and souls into raising their children to knowing Jesus and yet as of being 39 years old, is living the classical prodigal lifestyle. I pray that the Holy Spirit comforts you and reassures you that your efforts were not for nothing. Your children may also be angry at God for the death of their father too.
For now, trust that your parenting was what they needed and that your efforts were not for nothing.
God Bless
We are so glad to have you with us. We all did our best to raise our children in Christian homes, relying on our Father. No one ever could imagine being here. Estrangement is such a foreign enemy and perhaps the work of the evil one. All we can do is keep our hearts open and know that we do give it all to our God who is in charge of all. Hugs
After reading your post, I was amazed how strong and courageouus you have been for your kids, and unselfish when you wrote about not wanting to complicate things by getting into another relationship. Sorry to hear that they are estranged. As Guelsmom wrote: Just keep on your knees. My prayer life has never been more fervent before this estrangement with our oldest son. It also affects us having a relationship with our DIL (daugter in law) and our new little baby grandson. You have come to the right place. We encourage each other here and we pray for any immediate concerns on your heart.
Read others stories and get into the discussions. You will be stronger in the days ahead, because I have ccome a long way already, and God only guided me here just a short two months ago.
Also, I have come to realize that his estrangement is mostly a falling away from God. Since my husband & I are strong in our faith, we know that we are dealing with what the Bible says will happen.
(Just like in the days of Noah). We can be a light that shines in the darkness and we sort of cling to each other here for support. Again, welcome!
