CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
2 Timothy 1:7---For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
(PLS for short----Power Love and Sound mind)
I am thankful you are here with us. We need the Lord and one another.
Where you have suffered physical abuse, I think you are right to be very very careful and have clear physical boundaries in place.
We are not required to sit there and put ourselves in harm's way when someone is physically threatening us or putting us in danger.
Second, please take care of yourself and get help for your depression if you think it has gotten to a clinical level. It is okay to take time for yourself and take care of you.
All the estrangement stuff, all the hurt, that stuff is on them. Their bad behavior and the consequences of it, it's all on them ... let it be between them and God. We mom's aren't supposed to do the 'heavy lifting' nor can we change their hard hearts. Let the Lord do all of that.
This is your time to rest and take care of YOU, AND SIMPLY LEAVE THE REST OF IT IN THE HANDS OF THE ONE WHO CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ... GOD!
Now, go be kind to yourself ... take a bubble bath, go get a pedicure or manicure, take a walk, go to coffee with a friend .... Our kids do not get to be our judge and jury .... even though they try ... I used to say that my ED dug my grave and then expected me to crawl in!!!!! Well, there were many many days, where I kinda said, well, okay ... and laid down and sorta waited to die.... Eventually, you realize, NO!!!! I'm not going to lay there just because you say you're done with me ....
God isn't finished with us yet!!!! We have to get up, shake the dirt off and crawl out of that hole our kids so want to kick us in to .... Satan might have convinced our kids that we don't matter .... but God certainly has a far better plan for us than Satan .... We just have to decide who we're going to believe!
God bless you hon, I know it's hard when you're in the trenches ... but there is light at the end of the tunnel, there is HOPE because of JESUS .... Hold on to Jesus ... and His promises. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. You matter!
