CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
Psalms 26:3-5
"For Thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes:
and I have walked in Thy truth.
I have not sat with vain persons,
neither will I go in with dissemblers.
I have hated the congregation of evildoers;
and will not sit with the wicked."
Proverbs 4:14
"Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men."
When do you leave and how long will you be gone?
I do however, recommend MY course of action.
I will pray for you.

I'm with you ChristianMom, but then there are those that ya just can't get out of without the Indians coming after you with their tomahawks ready to tar and feather ya. I didn't go to my mother''s 80th B-Day party (couldn't go) but boy did I ever hear about it from everybody!
faith.... You say you handle it pretty good while you are on the phone with them, so do the same thing. With both events there should be enough people there that you know so just move on from one to the other if they bring up the estrangement issue. Or simply say something that should end the conversation like; "If there are any changes, you will be the first to know." Then find a new person. Kids. Find kids to chat with. I love talking to the kids. They are so honest.
Enjoy talking with those that you don't chat with often enough or find ones that don't know about the situation. I have found that most people prefer to talk about themselves so ask about them and be a good listener.
Go with the intent to have a good time and remember what the purpose is - to celebrate a wedding and a birthday.
Are the EK's going to be there by any chance? If so, I'm with ChristianMom - head for the hills and take cover!! LOL - Just kidding!!
No, my ED will not be there, she has cut out all family and friends since her marriage to the white supremist!
I agree kids are the best and I am good at listening (I better be, I'm almost a counselor...lol!) and talking to them.
Thanks for doubling up on the prayers...Faith
I can definitely relate to controlling family members. My ES is asked about at every event and when I state that I don't know what he is doing now, I get those judgmental expression of you are his mother, why don't you know.
Good luck and my prayers are with you even though you are gone for the week, I will pray hard that it all goes well.
I hope you'll let us know how it all went! Also praying for safe travels for you and your husband.
