CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
I pray you will have the peace of God and get the rest you need.
My ED left on her 18th birthday four months ago She had been planning it for many many weeks, it turns out and had pulled a lot of strings and arranged a lot of things to do so and we were totally blind to it. She moved in four months ago with a young man she will not let us meet although we know who he is (he works with her)
I have had some very prophetic dreams and I know this can run "weird "when you're a believer, but I believe dreams can come from the Lord...from the enemy and from ourselves. I am not a psychic - I do not believe in psychic powers; they are a tool of the enemy, but I do believe that God can speak to our spirit while we sleep.
About eight weeks before DD left - and I had no idea she was leaving, I dreamed she was in a car accident and that she had passed away. And I had no idea where she was spending eternity. I woke up panicked but relieved - at that time she was still home. I got up that morning and when I saw her in the kitchen I put my arms around her and said "Please be careful driving..."
I thought it was just the worried dream of a mom of a young driver.
But now i know that was a prophetic dream. I do not know where my daughter is - emotionally, mentally nor physically or spiritually. She's just "gone".
She won't let us be part of her life - she has cut us all off. It hurts so much. She came back for Thanksgiving and Christmas and brought presents but since then no contact. All contact has been amiable but she just doesn't "care". She doesn't have any desire for us to be part of her life. she doesn't "care" how hurt her grandma, aunt, uncle, her dad and I and siblings are. Her father and I have told her how much we love her as has her grandmother but she just doesn't seem to have a "need" to have a family - at least not our family.
Anyway, that is neither here nor there because I am thinking of your dream.
I now realize that it was not a literal car wreck I dreamed about - it was a prophetic dream that I would not know where my child was. And I don't. I never in a million years thought she would do THIS.
I have had other dreams about her since she left - dreams that she is sorrowful and sad. Dreams that I am holding her while she cries. Dreams that she is regretful. I don't see that with my eyes, but maybe I can feel it in my heart and maybe someday it will "be".
God has begun to gift me with some dream interpretation. I believe the man with the gun is the enemy (of course). You and your son were hiding together behind a table - the table in the Bible is often remembered as the Lord's table. It could be that you were putting the blood of Jesus between you and the enemy. But your son went out from behind that covering and was attempting to wrestle the enemy and got hurt. He was doing it of his own strength though. And we cannot fight the enemy in our own strength.
It says to me that your DS is fighting a battle in the spirit realm but not relying on the Lord to fight it and he is injured.
I don't think it is "prophetic" dream literally but maybe just the Lord giving you insight. I don't think the Lord gives us bad dreams in order to frighten us but to know how to pray.
Months ago when she was still in the house, I dreamed a faceless figure in black was at my living room window and shot through the window at my younger daughter. In my dream my family was completely helpless to fight this man.
I woke up terrified and immobilized. I realized i could either lie in bed or I could take care of this thing.
I went out in the living room and prayed spiritual warfare prayers, praying the blood of Jesus over the whole house, room and my family. I commanded any evil presence to go to the feet of Jesus in His name. After about 10 minutes I stopped shaking and there was peace that fell in the room and house.
Keep praying for your ES -- I will lift him up in prayer too and will ask the Lord to give you a dream of hope for him.
God bless you.
I had a vivid dream one night that I was at a deck party with everyone from church. The sky became so dark it was hard to see - I was going from person to person trying to get them to listen to me to get inside - it was going to storm, especially the youth group which was out on the lawn. Our main pastor just stood and stared at the sky. I grabbed my daughter (oddly ED) and brought her inside just as lightning struck and a tree fell on the deck and everone on it.
I knew when I woke up that something terrible was about to happen and that we needed to find another church to protect our family from the fallout of what was coming.
Turns out the youth pastor was slowly trying to take over the church - he was also teaching the children very very wrong things and eventaully it came out that he was having affairs, etc and finally he was asked to leave, but not before he nearly took over the whole church and had them all in his "pocket" So many went through disillusionment and pain from that. I am so thankful that we weren't there.
So yes, dreams can come from the Lord to help us with discernment or something coming in the future.
I am very happily settled in a new church now and it happened right before DD left....so I see how God positioned us to be in this new place for prayer and support. They are very serious about spiritual warfare and I know He was handing us the weapons to fight this in the spirit realm.
I told DH....it may not happen even in our lifetimes, but I believe she will come back to the Lord. She must - he has her in His hands. She knows the truth. And I pray He will not leave her alone until she does.
