God spoke to me while I prayed to send a letter to my grandsons. I haven't seen them for almost 6 years now.
My daughter and SIL have turned atheist and have said I am poison to them. Because of health reasons I stopped trying to contact them. But recently God said to send a letter telling the boys (14 &15 yrs old this yr) that I love them. So I did. I didn't put a return address. Also I typed a label for the envelope so it wouldn't be my handwriting.
I prayed that the boys would get the letter and read it before my daughter got it and ripped it up.
I gave the boys my email address. I have peace that the boys read it. But my daughter who has blocked me on Facebook I saw yesterday (through another FB account) that she now has changed her name on her FB account.
God told me to write it so I know He is working His plan in that family. Thank you for reading this. It helps to be among people who feel the same pain as I do. God bless you all

Oh, how I understand. Having been FB blocked, I cannot even "see" my grandchildren who have moved to another state (no forwarding address, new phone, etc. etc.) God's peace is a wonderful gift because we know He sees all, loves more than we ever can, and can work miracles. Thank you for following God's leading - the rest is up to Him. God bless you and hang in there!

Sylvia i have been blocked also from every form of communication and the pain is unbearable.My son did call and asked if we wanted to see gs,and then day before his visit changed his mind said he wasnt ready,so my emotions are starting to become a problem all over. I thought maybe a door was opening but i am not to sure now.I pray God will work on our childrens heart,and soften them.

I'm glad you wrote the letter that The Lord put in your heart to write. I pray about how The Lord might lead me to move forward when my grandchildren are old enough to no longer be under the daily influence of my ED and SIL. Even if I'm never able to re-develop a relationship with them, I want them one day to know that I have always loved them, and if I hadn't been estranged by their parents, I would have been very close to them, and would have never walked away from knowing them, loving them, and spoiling them.

I hope that the letter reached your grandsons and that they will reach out to you one day soon. Estrangement is such a painful situation, I hope yours doesn't last forever.

Sylvia, many years ago, the Lord directed me to call my es and to bring gifts to his house. They had just had their first child (my first grandchild). The Lord even gave me a scripture reference. He brought to my mind the time when Jacob brought gifts to to Esau. I knew it was the Lord and I was so confident.

I went to my son's home, brought gifts for everyone and it seemed like a good visit. My son called a few days later and told me he wasn't yet ready for reconciliation. I was devastated. I kept questioning the Lord because I felt it was truly His leading. Six months later, I received a call from my son, asking if he and his wife and baby could come for a visit. Sharing this so you trust in God's leading and remember it is also His timing. We just need to trust and obey. We have no clue what is going on behind the scene. I hope this is encouragement for edr also.

God's direction is not always logical, but we should always obey and leave the results to Him. That was sure easy to type ---- and difficult to live out!

Thank you all for your comments. It meant so much to me. I pray for all of you that some day God will continue to work His plan and you all will see your children/grandchildren again. I also would like your opinion on sending birthday cards. I stopped sending them because the kids were younger and it got back to me that any gift I sent would go to Goodwill. But now the boys are older I might start sending a card. But I doubt I will put a check in them. Afraid the check would have to be signed by one of the parents.

If you feel led by God to send a card then it is right. Pray first! The Lord will show you if the timing is right. It is so difficult and sad. The Lord can change hearts in His way.

Continue to trust in the Sovereignty of God. He is working to draw your grandchildren and your ED to Himself. You did right to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
