I was talking with the Lord and I realized since man has free will , He will not make my daughter stop lying about me to others and make me seem like a horrid person to my grandchildren that I no longer see. I don't hope in reconciliation any longer and it is sort of a peace. The peace comes from Him, they will never be in my life again but He will give me the strength and peace to get through this. So I have basically let go of ever having a relationship with any of the ever again and will have to rely on God's loving arms when days get tough and I miss them.

I try to have a similar attitude toward the estrangement with our ES. Our short reconnection was just that - short. We will have our good days and our sad days and all of those days we will walk with God, who will give us the strength we need when we need it. Hugs to you.

I believe that where we all have to arrive at, gma6. With fall here I'm focusing on doing things that are productive. Leading a life group, doing some speaking, starting an estrangement support group. I find it's the days I have nothing to do that are the most difficult, and so I attempt to keep my body and my mind busy. You'll be amazed at how God can take this awful situation and turn it around for his good, just as the Word says. And, he will give peace as we willfully give our children over to him.

Those I have been estranged from my son for 19 years now, I still hold on to hope. I refuse to let go of it. I believe the Holy Spirit can change his heart in an instance.

To let it go does not mean to give up hope. It means choosing to focus on positives rather than negatives. To live our lives with constant longing robs us of our joy and gives our children power over us that belongs with God.

gma, It sounds to me that you have God's peace. I relate to you about being lied about. Our ED changed history to justify leaving home with a bf 3 bfs ago. We do put our EC in God's hands and pray. I can not change my ED. No one can change our EC but Him. I do not know His plan but I do pray that He will work in her and that one day she would obey Him. God can do all things. Until then, we go on one day at a time and live the way He calls us to live. Not always easy but for me it would be impossible without God.

oh such helpful words here! I am in that same place, moving on seeking God's purpose for my life, not letting my EC have power over me and to rob me of my joy of the life He gave me. It is such a one day at a time. I am so thank for all of you and this website..hugs, hugs, and more hugs!

We have no control over anyone except ourselves. So we must turn to God in faith and hope. I am coming to grips with the thought that I will never see the ES or GC and it hurts beyond anything I have experienced. But, I must lean especially on God of mercy to get me and all of us through these difficult times. Right now I still think there is a shred of hope that stays with me but that is because I am trying to get to totally knowing the truth. HUgs
