CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
1. is the kind you give freely and automatically because you are the mom or dad. and because the Lord said "forgive them for they know not what they do." so we learn from Him. And we keep praying for these persons to learn to repent.
2. is the kind that happens when we repent. We repent of our sins to God and He forgives us, what greater example? And so it is, a further kind of forgiveness, as we forgive our children WHEN they repent. Then we get reconciliation, true real honest reconciliation.
Your comment on Boundaries. We were told by a christian counseller to get that book on it. Boy is it ever ever helpful. You can get, perhaps more as a Christian than anyone, into a mode of "If I understand Grace, if I practice it, If I know mercy, If I know Love, I will.....just put up with this .....dreadful behavior until they get converted." It's ridiculous thinking but a lot of us parents do it. Oh for some support to stand firm. Rebellious lying persons won't get help until we are firm with them. I sure need help to cope somedays.
