CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
Give yourself some time and space to cry and mourn, and then buck up and get on with your life, the best you can. Take a trip, pick up an old hobby, start some projects, volunteer to help someone, etc.... whatever you enjoy and can get your mind off your pain... It's so hard, but you are worth fighting for, and so are the relationships in your life with the people who love you.

takes someone going through it to understand. Be thankful for your husband and be good to yourself. There is no right reasoning for this happening in our lives, but acceptance is the first step of recovery. Next step is to leave it in the hands of God. Don't condemn yourself. God will see us through!
First of all, welcome to the group. I have been estranged 5 1/2 years now from my daughter and grandbabies. My daughter did not tell us, she just went silent and when we went to check on her at their house, they called the police and through them said they wanted zero contact and if we ever contacted them again, it would be a restraining order.
There has been zero communication for all this time. Family illness, deaths and funerals have not prompted her to even pick up the phone or send an email.
So, that's my circumstance ... and I have grieved and it is a deep sorrow ... BUT ... THEN GOD ...
because of Jesus, I've not only survived the rejection and shunning of my daughter and the loss of my grandchildren .... but despite the reality of the circumstances, I can say I have accepted it and because of Jesus I'm more than okay.
Honestly, I can say that the Lord has truly been my strength and my faith has been strengthened from going through this. It is not what I would have chosen ... but I didn't get a vote!!! And, it sounds like you don't have a vote either.
My best advice being 5 1/2 years into this journey, know that it is okay to grieve. This is not something that is yours to fix. Lay it at the feet of Jesus and give Him this burden. It's too much for us mom's to handle. Draw close to the Lord ... He is your strength through this ... and then come here often and talk ... and ask questions .... You will get through this and just know that your happiness is independent of what your son does or does not do. What he does you cannot and do not control, but you can do something about how you respond and my advise is to use this time to lean on Him. He is faithful! HUGS ...
Some advice that was given to me on this site many years ago was to consider it "detachment". Detachment is not forever; it is just temporary. I focused on that word and prayed to God to make the detachment short. It still took 8 years.
I would just sit back, take a deep breath and pray. God knows your heart and He also knows the hearts of your son and grandchildren. I know those grandchildren will try to communicate some way with you. You have been in their lives too long for them to not want to continue to see you.
Do they have facebook accounts where you can send them a chat? They are old enough to know that their dad caused this and they will try to fix it someway. The hardest thing is to be patient and wait on God.
We're all in different places in our estrangement. I no longer ask those questions, but I clearly remember when the wound was fresh. I could barely breath, I missed my ED and grandchildren so much.
Please know that we are all here to listen, and help if we can. We pray for one another, and I will keep you in my prayers. Blessings and hugs.....
If a person wants to pretend and call it "detachment" that is only fooling themselves and putting a Band-Aid on the wound.. We need to be aware of people who "use us and abuse us". It is "estrangement" and actually much worse then that in most cases I have read about..
Ephesians 6:12, exodus 14:14, Psalm 34:18…
These scriptures have been so helpful to me, to remind me of the battle we are in and that our strength will come from the Lord.
Jesus loves you and He understands the pain you feel. This is a season for you to draw closer to the Lord. Spend time in His Word.
Praying for you!
