Demon possession?

Today at the grocery store I ran into my ES's best childhood friend and his wife. I hadn't seen them in months, and we passed the odd talk, and they asked if we had spoken to ES lately, and I said no, and neither had they. And then his best friend told me that back in January a year ago, at about the same time he was going through his "fake divorce" our crazy DIL had literally blown their phone up one evening (over 40 texts in a 2 hour period) and they were so vile and hate-filled that he phoned our son the next morning, directly to his law firm. He told him what she had said and had even sent some of the texts to him so he could see them. And this friend told my son that he loved him, but as long as he was married to that woman, he couldn't be friends with him anymore. And my son hung up on him. Then this friend showed me the text my DIL sent to his wife. The wife had just suffered back to back miscarriages. I would quote verbatim what my DIL said but I am afraid I would get kicked off of this site, but it would make your blood run cold. Basically she told her she needed to clean out her lady parts so maybe she could possibly get a baby to finally live there, and then she called her a dirty prostitute. Of course she called her something else, but you get the idea. And she said horrible, filthy things about the best friend as well. Just when I thought I couldn't be shocked by anything she could ever say, this just rocked me. How could anyone say such a thing ANYONE, much less someone who just suffered two miscarriages? I was stunned, and I just looked at that couple who stood before me, knowing those words must have inflicted such horrible pain. And this is the worst part of all...my son KNOWS what she did, because the guy sent him those texts so my son could see them, and he just doesn't care. He stood by her! I truly think at this point she is possessed by a demon. I really do. I just can't think of anything else. I know she has mental illness but sometime I wonder if some of that is misdiagnosed and it is really a demon. I am just sick now. And I wonder if my son has somehow gotten possessed as well. God help us!

Yes, although I don't know what is being said my back, GF and her entire family are so evil and malicious. It's so hard to understand the child that we raised could possibly be so cruel but I have felt that cruelty myself so I know what it is. I don't know exactly what to call it - a demon, the devil, satan, - but whatever it is can only be defeated by God. So we must pray and pray for them. That is the only One who can do anything. I'm so sorry for your pain and especially the pain of the couple who were such good friends with your ES. Hugs and prayers.

Very sorry for your pain. Our EC and their spouses or gf's /bfs say terrible untrue things. Our ED has done that for the past 3 years. They make up fantasy and believe it. Only with the help of the Lord can we overcome what they put us through. Let us pray that one day God will change them. I believe the enemy is a huge part of estrangement and combine that with mental illness like our ED has and it gets complicated and discouraging. God is still able.

I know it's hard, but PRAY, pray, pray for her. She sounds like she may have a demon influencing her. Does she take drugs? If she is mentally ill, maybe she is mis-diagnosed & the meds are making her worse. Like I've said a lot lately, the evil one is working overtime for souls. Yikes! I hope you can find some peace in your heart soon.

I know it's hard to comprehend how your son could support such behavior but it's important to understand he is blinded by the enemy.

Like Linda mentioned, it gets complicated and discouraging, but God is still able. Satan would love for us to put our focus on the chaos that he's causing because it keeps us from praying as we should… Pray!

Oh sisters, thank you for the encouragement! I must admit, while I pray fervently for my son, I haven't prayed like I should for her. That was wrong of me. I haven't wished her any harm or ill will, but I haven't really prayed for her either. I will pray for her!

Oh, and as for the drugs....well I she is pregnant and due any day right now, so no she isn't on any meds right now. I do know that she has been on bi polar meds off and on during the years, but she said they made her gain weight so she took herself off of them. I do know she has an alcohol problem though.

poodlegirl - I think that one or two of our ECs have this issue too. One presented itself when our ES was terribly drunk. Looking back we could see the signs before that but it wasn't until this episode that it was very clear. It called on the evil one multiple times, it fought, it tried to physically get him to harm himself and others, it spoke through him. It was very scary and way beyond just a drunk guy acting bad. The only explanation that we have is possession of some sort. With this ES we do not do anything that he would consider a challenge or antagonistic towards him at all. We are always calm the one or two times a year that he contacts us. We always send him birthday/Christmas tokens of our affection and a rare text when we feel led. We are so sad for him. He actually hasn't acted out against us in a couple of years so that makes that a bit easier. He is just disconnected from us. If we knew how to help him in this we would but he has refused help of any sort in the past. He (somehow) now has a very nice gf, maybe she will see it and be able to help him on some level?
It isn't the same as your situation with the DIL being so vile towards you too. That all sounds so terrible! I think our ECs open themselves up to this kind of thing in their rebellion and the evil one takes advantage of the open door. It is a really deep issue, but not impossible! It will just take a lot of prayer for their eyes to be open to their issue and get or accept help. In the meantime I just pray for his safety because I think the ultimate goal of the evil one is to take his life. He has been incredibly reckless the past couple years. Praying for wisdom for you poodlegirl, and us all. God bless

poodlegirl, It's ok that you aren't ready to pray for your DIL. Sometimes you have to patient with yourself in that way. I know that when someone is nasty to me, I cant pray for them right away. I cant bring myself to pray for someone without sincerity of heart. When I pray for someone that has wronged me, I want to do it with forgiveness & sincerity in my heart & mind. Don't be too hard on yourself for that one. :-)

My younger daughter was the same way when her boyfriend dumped her in October. She couldn't pray for him. But then in a month or so, she announced she could. (She is done with him, but she wanted to be able to pray for him, and after a time, she could.)

Poodle, that is horrible. But at least it's a confirmation that it's not just you. I take comfort from knowing its not just us that has difficulties with ED.

@chocolatecat, reading some of what you've written about your son and going through that with him, it was like reading my own situation. I feel the combination of mental illness and spiritual oppression - but don't know which it is, the chicken or the egg or both.

@poodlegirl, how painful. I just wish maybe, just maybe they had shown the police those 40 messages - because it is akin to being total harassed. Your DIL does sound unhinged and it's so sad your son doesn't possess the spine or fortitude to handle things right. My son also has a GF who creates many more problems than is necessary (for him) although toward us so far, she's behaved. He's so afraid of being alone, he'll put up with the abuse and put downs. He lacks any resolve to improve his emotional health and being with her, sadly, it has worsened.

USTIMON, my other son, with whom I am semi-estranged has a GF like that too. The only difference being she HAS been rude & nasty to me. My son is SO scared that she will leave & take their son with her, that he is willing to put up with enormous amounts of abuse from her. I wish he too, would grow a spine. She threatens to leave him all the time. I told him to call her bluff sometime, she how she likes it.
