I am so happy for you. Sounds like you had a day of detachment from the estrangement in your life. Doesn't it feel good? And your great nephew is so lucky to have you shower him with attention.

Norske1 - we do love those boys with everything we have! Their parents are so grateful that we are in their lives and they totally trust us with them and we don't have to have supervision as we do with our GD. Tryig to change my outlook on things - this is not my problem it is ES and DIL - I am not the one who is lacking but they are! Just so sad our GD has to pay the price.

So happy for you, there's nothing like a child in your life, and those children will treasure each and every moment with you.

Our GD has to pay the price also. My DH would love nothing more than to spoil a little GD. It is hard that all my friends and relatives seem to be having grandbabies and I am happy for them, but it is hard sometimes.

That's why when I get time with my niece's 2 little ones I enjoy it so much.

This is what all of us strongly desire in our hearts and lives...to be loved, wanted and needed! What a truly wonderful distraction from your estrangement. Your darling great nephew certainly doesn't replace the relationship you are severely missing from your granddaughter, but it helps to have someone to provide our love and attention to. I have been denied doing that with three granddaughters only 4.5 hours drive away from me. It is just wrong and total nonsense for my ED to deprive me of what's also mine in my family. She is cheating them out of their own maternal grandmother. I am hoping and praying some day my three granddaughters will have the courage and desire to investigate and come visit their grammy. I just feel there is a chance with at least one out of the three if not all of them as girls are too curious and ask questions where boys are more passive, but likely as well to eventually express interest when the right time comes for them. We need to start praying those desires into their little hearts and minds!
