Bad, bad, bad last 2 weeks. Prayers requested

This is not about my ES, but my youngest son. For any of you mothers that have those "gut" feelings, listen to them. I have had a horrible feeling about our alcoholic son, more intense than I ever have before. I have had it for about 2 weeks. He called yesterday, drunk, & threatened suicide He has eluded to the suicide thing before, but this time I could feel it was different and more serious, and we've called the police in the past. He somehow talked his way out of having to go with them. We live at the other end of the state, so I called my brother in law who lives there in the same city. Well, he rushed over there with the cops, they had to break the door, subdue him & EPC'd him He blew a 2.9 blood alcohol. I have been a basket case for the last 2 weeks and almost had a breakdown myself after he called. My husband & my other son drove down to Lincoln last night. I feel horrible because I couldn't go. My sister-in-law is a nurse practitioner & told me to stay home because it would do neither my son, nor I any good. I am just waiting by the phone to hear from someone. Please pray for my family. Thank you & Happy Easter.

Oh Gordos, I will most certainly pray for you. I have had a bad week myself and consequently we DID NOT go see the new grand baby, due to DIL's continuing escapades, but that is another story. I am so very sorry about your youngest son. I know you feel so helpless. I am lifting you and your family up in prayer now.

Thank you poodlegirl. I feel like my faith is being tested & have even had thoughts that God really isn't listening to me. My priest said these are normal, human feelings that almost everyone has at some point in their life, esp when traumatic things happen.

Gordos, I'm so sorry for the stress you are under. I have been the mother of a child who threatened suicide many times. I have wakened him up just to make sure he was still alive. It's brutal. My heart is there with you. My prayers are going up for you, your son, and your whole family. May God give you the peace and strength you need to get through this. And May He divinely intervene in your son's life. I am praying in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

gordos - praying for you and your son. Praying that he turns to the Lord and sees his need to get help for his drinking. Praying for you. I know all too well how stressful this is. It was almost exactly a year ago our ES was dragged to the ER with a .35 blood alcohol level. Hang in there. (((hugs)))

Gordos - you and your family will be in my prayers. I was reading from "Jesus Calling" this morning and it says we are not to worry but take everything to him and while we want instant answers and results, we need to wait on God's timing, because it is not the same as ours. God is working in the midst of this turmoil; keep your eyes focused on Him.

I am so sorry to hear of this, gordos4. I will pray for your youngest son, that God will put people in his life who will guide him to getting help for his alcoholism. I hope and pray he gets some psychiatric help after this latest very scary incident, and I hope and pray he will take it as a warning signal that he needs to get psychiatric and substance abuse help. May God protect him and keep him safe. Alcoholism is such a terrible disease. Have you tried going to Al-Anon, the group for relatives and friends of those who are alcoholics? I found that very helpful many years ago, when my then-husband and I were coping with my father-in-law being an alcoholic, who was in complete denial about being an alcoholic. Al-Anon is for friends and relatives of those who are alcoholics. Al-Anon Family Groups: Recovery from Another's Drinking. www.al-anon.org or 1-888-425-2666. Again, I am so, so sorry you have had to go through such a traumatic incident, and I am praying for you and your youngest son and your whole family. I agree with your priest, that you are human, and hurting very badly, and have been badly scared. When terrible things are happening, it is human and okay to wonder where God is, and why is he letting this happen? I have struggled with those feelings myself. Please take good care of yourself and don't beat yourself up for feeling the way you do. We are humans, we feel things. You had a terrible premonition about your youngest son, and then it came true. Of course, you are feeling shaken and in shock. We are here for you, and praying for you, your youngest son, that perhaps this will be his hitting bottom, and will scare him into getting professional help, and for your family. Hugs and prayers to you.

Gordos.... your post has left me shaken. I am praying for you.

Thank you for your prayers, I DO so appreciate it. I made a mistake, his blood alcohol was .29, not 2.9, sorry. I am hoping this is rock bottom for him & hope he will accept the help, otherwise we are helpless.
