CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
You can't describe the love that flows...
Going forward, just think of you & your grandchild.. I say tell your son to change his tune .....only you have the power to tell your son how you expect to be treated.. You already know your son will call you to babysit..but I think he should treat you better. Your power is son needs you, focus on grandchild. Enjoy your time, enjoy the moment. Can you arrange babysitting thru baby's mom? If so,deal with her and take a step or 2 back from your son. Hugs to you, hope your son wakes up soon to know his child has a terrific Grandmother..
Guelsmom, he is 8 months old, almost bald with a tiny bit of bright red hair, big blue eyes with long lashes, & is adorably chubby. He is a happy baby & I can tell my son is a great daddy. At least I can be proud of that...
It is worth the crud I put up with from my son, just to see my grandson. I have become a rock & developed a hard shell.....My son is well aware that the way he treats me is wrong, but it is his free will he's exercising. I still pray for him all the time to find God. In the meantime, I will enjoy babysitting whenever I can.
Hugs & prayers to you.
Not even a photo of my grandson since last October 2011...so you are really blessed to actually "see" him and have a chance to love that baby boy up lose. You are surely blessed.
Your son is not treating you as badly as mine, because he allows you access to his child..but I understand how you feel about the way he mistreats you otherwise. Needless to say, my ES has no problem being an emotional bully with not only myself, but with his Dad (my hubby) and our other two adult children...this estrangement includes them as well.
I hope someday that I will get to know my grandson, but for now, I can be happy for you and others who get a chance to be up close to their grandchildren. It just hurts so much to miss out on this blessing, but I am so very happy for you dear friend. Cherish every second you have with him...sounds like if your ES is like mine..you just don't know when he might take away that joy, and I pray and hope your ES doesn't resort to that behavior in the future, but with estrangement, none of these relationships are certain..they can turn on a dime. I am so glad you shared your joy, it helps me to find a nugget of hope that my ES will possibly have a change of heart..this would be our family Christmas miracle. But I keep my hope in Jesus alone for now.
