I am wondering something....... Has anyone else experienced major and traumatic losses around the timing of the estrangements? I did. Lost both my adoptive parents before age 40. Had 9 months of Mom's brain cancer which was terminal to prepare, but we never really are. Lost Dad unexpectedly 8 years later. Divorced ini between their losses from an alcoholic abusive man. Then my son began to act out and he spent time away as a teen in juvenile centers, groups homes, and rehab facilities. MUCH time of teenage years away.......... He has spent months at a time not contacting me, not answering his phone, not returning my calls..........But in the past couple years we have grown closer and he has been pretty good about keeping in touch. He is 34 and settling down now.....My daughter moved across the country married at 18, he was military. She moved home 3 years later, and ever since she moved home there was some sort of chaos or drama going on. Then she found this bf and now has the 2 kids. In between I lost my birth sister I had met only 6 months prior, and a cat I had and was very attached to for 13 years, raised him from a month old. We moved, I lost my volunteering at our church's outreach since we became a one car family. It just seems it has been one thing on top of another which has put me in counseling again. Of course my husband almost died a year and a half ago, and then several months later my heart attack and diagnosis of congestive heart failure. Two near death experiences. I have wondered, about this situation with my ED if it is punishment, for a child I was coerced into giving up for adoption 32 years ago.......? ????? What do you think? I tend to believe God does't work that way, but I am beginning to wonder now...........
~ my DH lost his brother to alcoholism and had to fly back and forth east coast to west coast 4 times due to probate and real estate sales
~ our camp had a pipe freeze disaster on the second floor which ruined the mail level,
~ my mom was diagnosed with dementia and due to other serious health issues had to be placed in a nursing home
~ our condo had severe water damage while we were away due to an air pocket in the water main that "broke out toilet shut-off valve" when they were working on the lines and turned the water back on too quickly
~ mom had stroke and died
~ sister had stroke and died
~ brother died from alcoholism
~ and ME - I just went NUTS!......Oh, and my car died!.....Life happens! :-)
