My ED (19) and her one year old little girl came over last night. It was superficial at first, and then we discussed some deep issues and misunderstandings on both sides. The details and history are too extensive to go into here, but my husband and I decided not to pursue her when she (intentionally, we believe) got pregnant at 17 and basically ran off with her now-husband. Disobedience and disrespect and utter selfishness with no regard to anyone but herself were the themes of the last few years, so we decided, like the father of the prodigal, to let her go and pray and wait...
I have to say that God is answering our prayers. We made progress last night. I have prayed for God to immerse her in Truth- in every way, in every aspect of her heart, mind and life. She wants to reconcile and of course we do too, but there is a lot to work through. The visit was certainly a step forward- this has been going on close to 2 years now. I am thankful that we made some progress.
Reminds me that God's timing is not my timing. I think my ED's time away is giving her time to think and mature (in the Lord, we hope). Pain is a great teacher. She is different now than when she left, and we are, too.
Let's all keep praying for these precious EC. God is not finished with them (or us) yet.
