Another year of holidays coming up without my son. I just wish I could hide until January 2. I know I should be thankful and I am thankful for all I have but it is such a sad time.

This is our first Christmas and even Thanksgiving without our ES and GC. How do we make it? God almighty will be with us and love us. I'm with you and would like to hibernate until Jan. 2. My heart and prayers are with you

Ditto. The next several weeks are going to be a mess, I can see the writing on the wall here. I'd definitely like to fast forward to the new year right now. I need to come up with a game plan to get through these weeks....

God will help you through, he never fails, he is unwavering.Pray to him and ask for strength and comfort. I agree that it is sad because of the loss but it doesn't have to be that way. We can and should rejoice at the anniversary of the Lords birth and keep it about him.

I am with you all - it will be tough at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think I can make it ok for Thanksgiving - but Christmas, not so much.

I am grateful for my DH of 36 years and the fact that I still have my 84 year old mother so I will focus on them.

We have three adult children and the middle child is the ED. She lives in the same city as I do. So sad she is choosing not to be a part of life.

Suggestion - help someone who is worse off than you are. Maybe visit a nursing home and 'adopt' someone with absolutely no family. Volunteer at the local animal shelter. Serve a meal at a center for the homeless and less fortunate.

God Bless us all. He will see us through.

We will pray for one another. Holidays are hard for many people for many reasons. We miss our EC who do not desire to be with us. Our ED lives close by which makes it very sad for me.

I plan to attend some good church services and Christmas concerts to help focus on the Lord. He will help us.

I dont know what to think or do our son and dil have not told us where they live and have been told we dont get invited cause we dont like the dogs.I have always prepared thankgiving for son,dil,gs,and her 3 grown children.So this year they said son has to work,i said i was not going to cook anyway.And they said they will have something for christmas idont know if that was a invite or not.My son comes on christmas eve and picksup gifts andthats what he will do again,and i always made alot of food for the dinner that they have.But this year we will not go if we get invited cause we are not welcome any other day of year and its only to make them feel good so they dont feel guilty.Why let us know where they live for that day.It will break my heart but we are not a fool.

I was just thinking this last night, last year Thanksgiving was at my home, I had my father here ( who passed in July) My ES and future DIL and now I will not have my ES, DIL or my father. I know my father is in a way better place. I do not know anything about my ES or DIL anymore. So much changed within the last year. BUt I am going to focus on the blessings at Thanksgiving and what I can do for someone else. HUGS to you.
