CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
My daughter commented recently that it seems as though I don't feel anything. I tried to explain that I decided I needed to be happy again. She implied there was something wrong with me..... they don't get it. We can only take so much pain, then we need to shut down to protect ourselves.
I am going through these steps now grieving for my husband and what we could have had in our retirement years. With the help of prayer, family and friends I am getting to the Rebuilding stage, but then the tears flood my eyes and I struggle to feel happy, much less "blessed".
The way I got through the times of not knowing if I would ever see my son again was to think of it as a 'detachment' - a temporary thing. I had no idea when we were raising our kids that life would get so hard, the detachment of our son, and then the loss of my husband. Without God, I would fail.
Love and prayers for all the DHs represented, here, who grieve in their own way.
