This is a Christian Group for people that are seeking healing or overcoming challenges through Biblical advice. Our key verse is 3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
My notes from a sermon titled “The Fundamentals of Healing” by Greg Mohr
1. Know WHY healing is the will of God.
Healing is always God’s will, every time. If you don’t believe that, then you can’t have faith for healing.
When we witness those that don’t receive, it can shake our faith. But our doctrine cannot be defined by our experience.
Our basis should be God’s Word.
· 3 John 1:2 declares that God’s will is healing. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
· Titus 1:2 tells us that God cannot lie.
· Healing is God’s nature. Exodus 15:26 “…I am the LORD that healeth thee.” God is Jehovah Rapha. Rapha (râpâ') means “to restore”, “to heal” or “to make healthful” in Hebrew. When the two words are combined – Jehovah Rapha – it can be translated as “Jehovah Who Heals.” (Jer 30:17; Jer 3:22; Isa 30:26; Isa 61:1; Psa 103:3).
God created our bodies to heal. If we get a cut, our bodies go to work and heal it. He also gave us an immune system.
Jesus, that came to earth to do the will of the Father, had a healing ministry. He went about healing ALL that were sick. (Acts 10:38).
He showed us that it was God’s will to heal all. He told the man with leprosy in Matthew 8:3/Luke 5:13, “I am willing, be cleansed/healed” (the wording depends on the translation).
Healing is in the atonement—Jesus bore our sicknesses (Mattew 8:17/Isaiah 53:4). Jesus healed physically sick people to fulfill this promise from Isaiah.
Which is easier to do: forgive sin, or heal sickness? Neither, the same sacrifice that paid for sin, also paid for healing. You can’t have faith to believe for healing and believe it is always God’s will, if you don’t understand that healing was paid for in the atonement.
2. Understand that you are loved.
You are not an orphan or a stepchild. We are all God’s children.
Galatians 5:6 tells us that faith works by love. It works best when we know how much God loves us. God isn’t holding out on you. Find Scriptures that assure you of your healing, and say, “It is written…” Once you find those promises, speak them over yourself in faith. Then just rest and meditate on God’s love for you.
It’s not about what God CAN do, it’s what you know He YEARNS that inspires your faith. Our faith and trust is in knowing what Jesus did for us.
Matthew 7:11 (NLT) “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly father give good gifts to those who ask him.” God loves you more than a human parent love’s their children.
We need to be careful about getting into works and trying to get God to do something. Understanding God’s love and compassion is all that is needed to receive. Faith works best when we know God loves us.
